Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia: Christmas Eve

http://www.dadgoes2asia.blogspot.com/2005/12/christmas-eve.html

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia. Saturday, December 24, 2005. We watched the fireworks display on the water - right outside the apartments. Police had put barriers up so we actually couldn't get out onto the boardwalk - so we ended up watching form the lobby with everyone else who does not have a water view. :). After the fireworks we headed out to Stag's Head Pub - and met up with two other Air Atlanta pilots that Marc works with. Here is Dad in deep discussions with one of them. Night Market for Dinner.

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia: A Tour of the Markets in Kowloon

http://www.dadgoes2asia.blogspot.com/2005/12/tour-of-markets-in-kowloon.html

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia. Thursday, December 22, 2005. A Tour of the Markets in Kowloon. I'm still really jetlagged (being the wimp I am), so I am up at 4am every morning. This morning I researched some markets for Dad and I to visit and found a walking tour of them in Mong Kok - 4 transit stops away from us. Good thing I had warned Dad about all the walking! Dad at the Flower Market.it ran for 4 blocks! Bird Market.where you can find all your "bird needs". Posted by Bethy at 2:42 AM.

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia: Night Market for Dinner

http://www.dadgoes2asia.blogspot.com/2005/12/night-market-for-dinner.html

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia. Saturday, December 24, 2005. Night Market for Dinner. The three of us went to the Temple Street Night Market for dinner. Marc frequents a particular restaurant that has only outside seating. We were led to a plastic table with plastic stools.I guess you could call it "on the water". Meaning that a hose from a neighbouring restaurant was running on the sidewalk beside us. One of the waiters for the restaruant brings food to another table on the street. Day 2 - Big Buddha.

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia: Stanley Market for Xmas Eve

http://www.dadgoes2asia.blogspot.com/2005/12/stanley-market-for-xmas-eve.html

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia. Saturday, December 24, 2005. Stanley Market for Xmas Eve. Xmas Eve we went to Stanley Market. It a fairly touristy market that took us two trains and a bus to get there, and a bus and a ferry to get back. We had lunch at El Cid a Spanish restaurant overlooking the water. After we strolled through the market and looked at all the stalls. Dad seemed to like the chinese dragon shirt with the matching boxer shorts. Posted by Bethy at 7:50 PM. Night Market for Dinner.

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia: Bangkok Tiger Adventure

http://www.dadgoes2asia.blogspot.com/2005/12/bangkok-tiger-adventure.html

Dad and Beth spend Xmas in Asia. Friday, December 30, 2005. We went on an adventure. And the trainer dropped him outside the cage so he could play. For the next 20 minutes or so we played with the baby tiger (who was the cutest thing ever! And everyone came home with all their fingers. A certain "MUST DO" on anyone's trip to Thailand. Posted by Bethy at 6:20 AM. How amazing is that! Up close, and personal with the tigers! You both look great! Looking forward to more of the adventures! Day 2 - Big Buddha.

Life and Travels ~ the Next Chapter: May 2006

Life and Travels the Next Chapter. Monday, May 29, 2006. I know I promised to get some more pictures up here.however I have been waiting for a sunny day to take some of The Chungle and one has not materialized in a week and a half. Marc sent me an email today titled "You know you have been in China too long when." I thought i would pick out the ones that pertain specifically to me, and add some of my own. 1 You no longer wait in line, but go immediately to the head of the queue. Posted by Bethy @ 8:27 PM.

Life and Travels the Next Chapter. Sunday, October 15, 2006. We were at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kowloon last night meeting up with some friends from Germany. As we went out the front door of the hotel, the bellman asked if we needed a taxi. We said yes - to Kowloon Station. He said, oh yes - you to Tung Chung, him to Central. (him was referring to our friend who was in fact on his way to Central. Hmmmdoes the doorman live in our building in Tung Chung? How on earth did he know? Gung Hei Fat Choy.

Life and Travels ~ the Next Chapter: August 2006

http://bethhodges.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Life and Travels the Next Chapter. Wednesday, August 30, 2006. I found some. We had tacos last night. Today I am on my way (in 24 minutes) to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for Dim Sum. Looking forward to it, as it has been a while since I have braved the dim sum arena. Since the Jockey Club is right beside the Happy Valley Racetrack - Marc figures I can order a Coors Light and a hot dog. They sell that at racetracks, right? Posted by Bethy @ 7:11 PM. Life and Travels the Next Chapter. Monday, February 27, 2006. 1,060 CDN per month - what does that get you in a rental apartment. Well, well.let me tell you. Marc and I found an apartment on the Cathay Pacific bulletin board that was in the area we are looking at renting. Causeway Bay is on Hong Kong Island, close to pretty much everything. We climb to the 16th floor and the gate is pulled open. Sweet Jesus. What the hell was this? Miss Leung unlocked the large grate across the door to the apartment (ver...

Life and Travels ~ the Next Chapter: March 2006

http://bethhodges.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

Life and Travels the Next Chapter. Friday, March 10, 2006. Marc and I spent the last 6 days in Shenzhen, China. He was attending an interview for an airline based there. The interview was so intense.it took 5 days. Five days of poking, prodding, ECG's, EEG's, treadmill tests, hearing tests, peeing in a cup, and one session in which they took his clothes off to look for scars. Odd. Yuck, I'm glad I'm back in Hong Kong now. Posted by Bethy @ 7:02 AM. Wednesday, March 01, 2006. Posted by Bethy @ 5:25 AM.

Life and Travels the Next Chapter. Wednesday, June 21, 2006. Pics of the Chungle. Finally some pics for you - stolen right off Carrie's website! When Carrie visited she was proactive and took some pictures of the place - good thing, because I had not bothered to it yet! The kitchen, very small, only one person allowed in at a time! Dining room, and main bathroom off to the left - the 3 bedrooms and kitchen are down the hall to the right. The view from the balcony - on the 22nd floor. Here is a picture.

This morning started out with a ring.in fact 4 or 5.as Marc's phone rang 5 times before he got out of bed. Crazy you think? Well, we are currently seeking furniture for our new flat in Hong Kong. It seems that many people have "gently used" items for sale at about half the price of purchasing new. Well.why not? Might as well save a few bucks.

Dad Goes NaNo

Some say “Last Cow Jack” was just another boyish face in a police lineup, but I once saw him trade his whole family for three chickpeas. Jack had never forgiven his mother for giving birth to him. He said later he wanted to hold out for some Garbanzos but they wouldn’t let him use words that big. Sometimes going insane is the only legitimate response.
