daft crafter: October 2010
http://daftcrafter.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Crafting daftily since 1979. October 31, 2010. We went to Rockport today. It was nice. Links to this post. October 30, 2010. As I lay on the table, with the ultrasound technician whispering how sorry she was, I realized my whole future was gone. The best gift I'd ever been given, the one I'd wanted more than anything since I was a child myself, had been taken from me with no good reason, and with no explanation of why. At last, my love has come along. My lonely days are over. And life is like a song.

daft crafter: The Most Amazing Turkey Chili You Will Ever Eat
http://daftcrafter.blogspot.com/2014/09/the-most-amazing-turkey-chili-you-will.html
Crafting daftily since 1979. September 15, 2014. The Most Amazing Turkey Chili You Will Ever Eat. Unless you're allergic to peppers like my friend Meg and accidentally have an allergic reaction. But otherwise, this recipe of my father-in-law's is so easy and so, so good. 1 onion, roughly chopped. 1 red pepper, roughly chopped. 1 lb ground turkey breast. 2-4 cloves garlic, chopped. 1 jar salsa or picante sauce. 2 Tbs ground cumin. Several fresh basil leaves, sliced. 1 lg can Bush's Boston baked beans.

Crafting daftily since 1979. October 15, 2012. Normally, I'm against mother-daughter matchy-matchiness, but this fabric was so awesome I had to make pajama pants for both Chloe and I. This is amazingly soft, thick, good quality flannel. I mean it, we're talking PRIMO shit, here. This is The Stuff, and I got it from my exceptionally-good-quality-fabrics dealer, Virginia, at the Gather Here Stitch Lounge. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Librarian-in-Training: Fits and starts
http://librarian-in-training.blogspot.com/2010/12/fits-and-starts.html
Doing My Part to Make You Feel Better about Your Knitting. January 5, 2011. Forgoing the usual "Wow! I can't believe it's been so long! Comment, let's just jump straight into the knitting. I've got good stuff on the needles these days. Well, some good stuff. And some, uh, less good stuff. As usual. First on the needles are birthday socks for Kelley, a pretty pair of Nutkins. I've just started the second sock, after a rather long post-first-sock hiatus. The yarn, Ancient Threads Bambu. Nothing alike, real...

Doing My Part to Make You Feel Better about Your Knitting. January 19, 2010. There's no place like the last place I lived. I know I've posted about this before, but bear with me. I've spent roughly a third of my life in three places: Arizona, southern Oregon and Massachusetts. Now I've started a new chapter here in California. And I'm still not sure which, if any, of these places is home. When I lived there. So does all of that make it home? But does familiar make it home? And then there's Oregon. Wh...

Librarian-in-Training: Socks, some sadness and such
http://librarian-in-training.blogspot.com/2011/03/socks-some-sadness-and-such.html
Doing My Part to Make You Feel Better about Your Knitting. March 30, 2011. Socks, some sadness and such. I recently received an unsubtle (but charming) request for bloggery from one of my favoritest knitting ladies. It's appropriate, then, that I have something to show off that she in particular would appreciate. Size 2 Harmony wood DPNS, Ancient Threads Bambu fingering. Mods: Added one pattern repeat, and subbed standard cuff, heel and toe. When she chose the Ancient Threads yarn. And then, mostly, I th...

http://librarian-in-training.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Doing My Part to Make You Feel Better about Your Knitting. March 2, 2010. It was bound to happen eventually. I spent a solid twenty minutes last night digging around for my current sock-in-progress. It was eventually located. Behind the couch cushions. Jabbed firmly into the back of the couch. I suppose it could have been worse. I could have located the pointy little fuckers with my ass. March 1, 2010. In which I surprise myself. A stylin' scarf, if I do say so myself. Even modeled in a hoodie. I've only...

http://librarian-in-training.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Doing My Part to Make You Feel Better about Your Knitting. May 27, 2011. I'm sure most knitters have heard about the difference between process and product knitters. Process knitters knit for the sake of knitting and aren't terribly concerned with the finished project. If a project is boring or not working out or not enjoyable for whatever reason, a process knitter will usually just stop knitting it. This often makes them bad deadline and gift knitters. Guess which kind I am? Through no fault of the patt...

http://librarian-in-training.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Doing My Part to Make You Feel Better about Your Knitting. February 23, 2010. You've probably noticed I'm not great about responding to blog comments. I'm trying to be better, and I've been really, really good about it on my last three posts. You may be saying " Hey, I commented. I didn't get a response. Why is she such a lying liar face? The question you should be asking is " How can a systems analyst be so technologically incompetent as to send almost all replies to. February 17, 2010. Finally, my view...

Doing My Part to Make You Feel Better about Your Knitting. January 19, 2011. Damn it feels good to be a finisher. A mere 17 months after casting on, I'm pleased and proud to announce that I've finally finished the Chevron Scarf! I obviously haven't been knitting this scarf constantly for the last year and a half. For many months, I wasn't in the mood to work on it at all. And a fingering weight scarf is mighty slow going, even on size 6 needles. Last-minute gift, my ass. From Last-Minute Knitted Gifts.

Doing My Part to Make You Feel Better about Your Knitting. October 27, 2010. When you look up hubris in the dictionary. I'm pretty sure you'll see my picture. I've started knitting a sweater. Some of you may recall the rather, er, painful experience I had with my first sweater. But undeterred (or, only deterred for three years*), I've started another sweater. Sweater, the Providence Hoodie, from New England Knits. Let's look at the series of mistakes I've already made:. It's actually really easy! Well, s...

Daft Craft | Musings for an imaginary audience
Musings for an imaginary audience. I was going to write a post about why I’m opening this blog up again, but there are too many reasons. Perhaps, I will talk about them one day. But hopefully, they’ll become painfully obvious after I use this space some more. In the meantime, ponder this:. In Google Translate,. When you translate “he” from English to Bengali, the first translation offered is “ত ন ”. It made me wonder how the algorithm picked the best translation. October 8, 2011. The City, It Glows.

Yellow Submarine was written from a child's innocent point of view, but c'mon, this is the Beatles. Everything they did appealed to everyone, from kids who were teething to seniors without teeth and Yellow Submarine is no exception. All aboard! Posted on Coffeerooms onDVD. You don't have to have a brother with bad timing or be a horticultural hippie to appreciate Ned's naïve wisdom. While "Brother" isn't for Rhodes scholars, only an idiot would dismiss its easy going charm. Posted on Coffeerooms onDVD.

Daft Crafts Blog
Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Daft is Closing, but Not Dying! Sadface* Only two days left until the closing of Daft Crafts, the brick and mortar store that we own. It's going to be a busy two days. We are having a huge going out of business sale, selling displays, meeting the new shop owners (They are opening a handmade boutique in our location, so at least it is continuing to bring handmade joy to the neighborhood! Me, my kidlet and Jessica playing dress up! Soap making classes were always a riot. Long time...
