Rhianna Banana: January 2007
http://rhiannabanana.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 31, 2007. We saw a bunch of trogons at Lalo Loor. I think this one is a northern violaceous trogon (Trogon caligatus). All trogons (or maybe just all male trogons, and some of the females) have brilliant colors. They re fun to watch as they perch, slowly cock their heads, and check out their surroundings. The iguanas at Punta Prieta liked to hang out in the plants near the buildings of the resort. I really liked the vibrant colors on this juvenile iguana (Iguana iguana). This large bir...

Saturday, May 26, 2007. Carrie s visit and more wildlife from La Perla. Katie took this picture of the bizarre rhino car that drives around Puyo. I think it is pretty awesome, but I have no idea why the owner decided to convert his car into a rhino. This is one of the many stickers that decorate the rhino car. Did you know that rhinos are a farmer's best friend? Carrie and I in front of the Puyo River. This statue depicts the 7 indigenous groups in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Rhianna Banana: September 2006
http://rhiannabanana.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 30, 2006. After Alex, Tita, and I explored the coast, we went north to visit my friends Miguel, Nick, and Lily. We went to Ibarra first, then Cahuasqui, and stopped in Cotacachi and Otavalo on our way back to Quito. Here s Alex and Nick in the back of a pick-up truck in Ibarra. Nick lives in Cahuasqui, the island in the sky. The town is surrounded by mountains but bordered by sheer drop-offs. Very pretty and dramatic. The area reminded me of southern California, near Alpine. Auntie Ti...
