seeking another sky: Listening
http://seekinganothersky.blogspot.com/2012/06/listening.html
Thursday, June 7, 2012. Why does the word "Eucharist" seem to function as a cue for some Protestants to stop listening? I've seen a switch triggered in listeners' minds that says, "That's Catholic," which means that everything in the conversation can be disregarded. The same can be said for other religious words, like parish, priest or mass. Where is the curiosity in this approach? Where is the wonder at the diversity of Christian worship, or the awe at the historical roots of our tradition?

seeking another sky: February 2011
http://seekinganothersky.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 28, 2011. A couple years ago I wrote about a rumbling. I still think about that a lot; this is from an email that I sent about that:. For the last several centuries we've been convinced that we are moving forward, solving the problems of the world. Now we're realizing that in solving problems we've created more, and we've become astonished at the realization that we have created problems that are beyond our ability to contain. It's huge, it's our world unraveling. And we see it everywher...

seeking another sky: January 2012
http://seekinganothersky.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 26, 2012. Some words from John Cage and David Foster Wallace. These two thoughts aren't really related, but they are both things I've come across in the past couple of days that really struck me, so I thought I'd share. First, John Cage's thoughts on the "purpose" of music, via Irish composer Jennifer Walshe [seen here. 8220;And what is the purpose of writing music? Posted by Bob H. Thursday, January 19, 2012. I had a sudden realization today about my creative work:. The Catholic writer...

seeking another sky: A Safe Place
http://seekinganothersky.blogspot.com/2012/06/safe-place.html
Wednesday, June 6, 2012. I often feel like I am exploding with questions. As soon as there is a breath in my schedule, a moment of rest, thoughts come flooding into my head and refuse to leave until I have acknowledged them. This blog is mostly "secret." I'm not sure if it's ever read; so I feel safe in posting some of my real thoughts here, trusting that those with questions will ask respectfully and maybe help me in my understanding. seeking another sky: October 2011
http://seekinganothersky.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 23, 2011. Stand up for Tibet. Right now I should be writing a paper, but as I worked on it here in the library, I couldn't stop thinking about the young people in Tibet that are lighting themselves on fire as a desperate plea for someone to help. Despite efforts by the Chinese government to silence these people. I feel so powerless; how can I make this better? The only thing I know to do is to sign this petition ( Stand up for Tibet. Have already been saving lives by speaking and pleading...

seeking another sky: March 2011
http://seekinganothersky.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 31, 2011. Truth(s) and my neighbor: Part 2, Discarded ladders. What is a tree? It is sort of a cumbersome way to communicate, especially when you communicate like I just did in that terrible metaphor that included proverbial trees and forests in a discussion of the proto-tree-imagination. We algebraically substitute meanings based on common knowledge (even though "common" is another undefined category. just like knowledge and meanings and algebraically and substitute). My conclusion so fa...

seeking another sky: August 2008
http://seekinganothersky.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 25, 2008. There is a rumbling. Can you feel it? I have been thinking so much this summer about pretty much everything, and I am so blessed to have amazing people in my life who have helped me to come to some conclusions and also to some questions. Some even don't even have shelter. And the ones that do have shelter made from whatever garbage they could find: blankets, cardboard, clothing, garage doors, and whatever else. Again, they are a passionate people. It's contagious. I see it again.

seeking another sky: September 2008
http://seekinganothersky.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 18, 2008. I thought it would be a good idea to write about where the url for this blog comes from. There's a poem by Alfred Noyes called "Memories of the Pacific Coast," and in that poem he writes:. Where is that land? For, when I dream it found, the old hungering cry. Aches in the soul, drives me from all I planned,. And sets my sail to seek another sky.". Posted by Bob H. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Victoria, BC, Canada. View my complete profile. Scrape the Sky: Automatic 3
http://dogosan.blogspot.com/2008/02/automatic-3.html
Friday, February 29, 2008. Another automatic I did last week. (It's not finished and never will be.) Been trying to stop doing stuff like this because I should be concentrating on my artbook. I'm not afraid of not finishing at this point, it just makes me feel a little bit guilty. I wish I had the money to print in color right now, then I could actually put work like this in it. The Kon is coming up really fast, next month is crunch time as well as mid-terms. March 10, 2008 at 6:54 PM. The title is a WIP.
