Daily Readings: The Patience of Faith
http://dailylectionaryreadings.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-patience-of-faith.html
My thoughts on the readings from the Daily Lectionary as found in the "Book of Common Worship: Daily Prayer" of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Monday, May 13, 2013. The Patience of Faith. Yes, I get fed up by waiting. Yes, I want things to move more quickly. Yes, I would appreciate it if God moved with a little more urgency as well. But if I am to serve God faithfully I need to live with patience so as not to become sluggish. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). For All the Saints. People of God 2.0.

My thoughts on the readings from the Daily Lectionary as found in the "Book of Common Worship: Daily Prayer" of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Friday, November 30, 2012. Faith As A Road To Joy. Does this sound too good to be true? Prayer: Lord, fill our hearts with joy and our days with peace. And if we struggle, may it be with the knowledge that your steadfast love remains with us. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Links to this post. Thursday, November 29, 2012. Links to this post. Wednesday, November 28, 2012.
Daily Readings: God’s Got Soul

My thoughts on the readings from the Daily Lectionary as found in the "Book of Common Worship: Daily Prayer" of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Wednesday, May 1, 2013. God’s Got Soul. God did create woman and man in the divine image. The fact that we have a soul may simply reflect the fact that God had one to begin with. Prayer: God of all, walk with us as we journey toward you so that we may arrive at your new creation and stand in your eternal light. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Labels: Apple of Gods Eye.

Monday, December 10, 2012. Preacher's got a brand new blog! The new fledgling blog is born: http:/ glimpsinggrace.wordpress.com. She is a work in progress, but will allow me to continue posting pictures (which Blogger will not unless I pay.) This blog will, of course, remain here, because it gives such a window into my life in the past five years. I invite you to come on over, sit down with some coffee and meet my new friendly blog. I think you're going to love each other. Sunday, December 09, 2012.

GLIMPSES OF GRACE: November 2012
http://glimpses-of-grace.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 15, 2012. Curl up and chat a spell. The warm comfort of a fresh-from-the-dryer cardigan. Looking everywhere for my fluffy dog and discovering that he had curled up in the sleeping bag I had out to pack for this weekend's youth retreat. I think he'd like to be a stowaway. A long chat with a good friend that got us all caught up on life and theology. I have such wonderful friends. Monday, November 12, 2012. Let me try that again. Thursday, November 08, 2012. Thursday, November 24, 2011. Wishing you all a terrific Thanksgiving! This bow is ridiculous. But Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Being brave and getting my hair cut in a pixie. I really like it, but also don't quite recognize myself in the mirror yet. As I left the hairdresser, he asked the woman waiting, "Are you going to be as brave as Whitney today? And we all chuckled. A thoughtful invitation and hospitality experienced before I even arrive in North Carolina. The moving comp...

GLIMPSES OF GRACE: October 2012
http://glimpses-of-grace.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 16, 2012. A fiery and vibrant sunrise to wake up my sleepy self. Taking the afternoon off to make up for having worked so much lately and enjoying the decadence of sweat pants and a t-shirt, leisurely cooking and a nap. Playing hide-and-seek with youth in the church, which is exactly what I loved to play in church when I was a teenager. Some things just never get old. Saturday, October 13, 2012. The whirr of a boy riding his bike past my open window. Thursday, October 11, 2012. I do beli...

GLIMPSES OF GRACE: May 2012
http://glimpses-of-grace.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 28, 2012. Perspective, pimento and pentecost. Rearranging my room to put my bed at an angle. It's funny how your whole perspective changes. I really like it and, oddly enough, it makes my room feel bigger. Also, it would seem I'm quite strong. :). A quiet reprieve in a hectic day found in a homemade pimento cheese sandwich on homemade rye bread at a little bakery. Thursday, May 17, 2012. Relax, we'll be here a while. My precious pup in his prayer pose. Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Being brought fre...

GLIMPSES OF GRACE: June 2012
http://glimpses-of-grace.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 24, 2012. After worship this morning, I was in my office talking with a church member about a Bible passage and went ahead and took off my robe to get ready to head over to our luncheon. When I did, we both realized that my button-up shirt had come completely untucked from my skirt. She and I both laughed and I said, "Well, I guess I really preached. The sound of gravelly thunder in the distance, heavy with the promise of rain. Friday, June 22, 2012. Lovely to see you again. Taking my dog on...

Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Getting my North Carolina driver's license far easier than I expected. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. A gorgeous spring-like day where I could drive with the windows down. I love that spring smell in the air. Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Baking cookies for a gathering of area pastors at the church. Ecumenism is delicious! Being invited to relax with Jane and watch a good ol' chick flick (and have my first. Carolina pulled pork sandwich with slaw — yum! Having Cat the c...

GLIMPSES OF GRACE: December 2011
http://glimpses-of-grace.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 29, 2011. One good thing leads to another. A phone call from my good friend Karen in Texas. Coffee with Joanna that turned into sermon writing together that turned into a quick Goodwill run. Folks going out of their way to be helpful and thoughtful. It's said that the world is getting more selfish and individualistic. This may be, but there sure is a lot of good to be found. Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Even the rain is lovely. GLIMPSES OF GRACE: March 2012
http://glimpses-of-grace.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 31, 2012. Color, calm and cheer. Getting fun pillows from Pier 1 to go with my whimsical loveseats and not having to pay a dime for them. They sent me a bunch of rewards gift certificates in the mail. (The white fluffy ball is not a Pier 1 pillow, but it's my favorite.). The first plink-plunk drops of rain against my window as I go to sleep, assuring me of a great night's rest. A nurse who's warmth and joy shows her love for people and her job. Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Refreshing rain....
