Swimming-Duck: April 2011
http://swimming-duck.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 30, 2011. A Good Read on Praise. I've been meaning to post a link to this for awhile. For the past year or so I've been working extremely hard on cutting out non-stop praise to my child. This has been a hard habit to break. My journey started after reading the book Unconditional Parenting. It is very hard though. I catch myself saying to Boo things like, "What a great drawing! And "Good job building with blocks! Links to this post. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Am I being overly sensitive here?

Unguilty Pleasures: last night I wanted to punch sleep in the face
http://stiltedsanity.blogspot.com/2011/11/last-night-i-wanted-to-punch-sleep-in.html
Follow Me. Now! Friday, November 25, 2011. Last night I wanted to punch sleep in the face. I’m not normally a violent person, but sometimes, I want to punch things and people. I never do, though. Goes back to being “not violent”. I mean, if I had to, like, fight for my life, I could punch things or people. Or if my kids or dog were being threatened, I could see myself taking a swing or three. I’m not really a real life badass, but in my head…? I so totally AM. Dexter doesn’t scare me, per se, but t...

Primal Mommies: Baby Dies After Circumcision: What is YOUR problem?
http://primalmommies.blogspot.com/2010/10/baby-dies-after-circumcision-what-is.html
Thursday, October 07, 2010. Baby Dies After Circumcision: What is YOUR problem? I have so much I could say right now. but probably won't write even a small percentage of it. This is a blog; it is not a book. Still, I think it's vitally important for humans to understand the impact of their words on another human being and even upon themselves and their peers. Yesterday, a woman lost her child after a circumcision surgery. The child was 7 weeks old. There was much of a story on her blog. My point is that,...

No Nonsense Parenting: 05.10

I love the *idea* of letting my children explore and experiment with things, permitting they are appropriate and safe. However, I find that the *idea* of letting them do this and the reality of being able to allow it often collide.and explode. I wish I could allow them to be crafty and NOT CARE that there was glue and glitter and marker all over the kitchen, but I have a house full of 7 people to maintain.plus, who wants to waste money replacing things that get damaged? I wish that I could say I loved br...

No Nonsense Parenting: I am a human toilet.
http://nononsensemama.blogspot.com/2008/02/i-am-human-toilet.html
I am a human toilet. Being a mother comes with many other titles. You learn them as you go. You become a homemaker many times, a chef, a designer, a manager, a hostage negotiator, and many more things! One title I never thought I'd bear was that of "human toilet" but alas, my fate has been sealed. Well, I wasn't prepared for what happened next! As I lifted her legs up to put her new diaper on, she projectile pooped ALL OVER ME! I was covered in seedy, liquidy poop! That is, until last night. I laid him d...

I'm a horrible person and deserve to be smited! Wow, I am even afraid to look at how long ago I last posted. I have been absent for far too long and far too much has happened! Kids are growing bigger each day. Maggie is in Kindergarten, Iris in preschool and Alexander is just terrorizing me all day! I will be back to blog, I just need to get into the swing of it again! Man, how time just flies! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). La Leche League International. View my complete profile.

A Day (or 4) in the life. As a hobby and part time side job, I have a small freelance photography business offering portraits to locals. I've always wanted to participate in a 365 project. Where you take a photograph every day for a year. I started "late" rather than on the first day of 2010 and didn't set my goals high. I'm not tracking something or striving for artistry but simply making sure I use my camera EVERY day, regardless of what I end up shooting. Have you ever done this yourself? But I just k...
