Mary's life and times: April 2010

Mary's life and times. Tuesday, April 13, 2010. The "isms" start young. So, when you have a kid you find out that it's actually 1955, and that girls wear nothing but pink, and boys can wear anything but pink and often wear blue, and that deviation from the norm is unusual and frowned upon. I find it somewhat hilarious and maddening that people often mistake Hazel for a boy. Simply because she is not wearing pink. White boy babies/kids: 8. White girl babies/kids: 17. Black boy babies/kids: 1. And then the...

Mary's life and times: Hazel's One Year Old!!
http://nwcellocat.blogspot.com/2010/03/hazels-one-year-old.html
Mary's life and times. Monday, March 15, 2010. Hazel's One Year Old! Hazel turns 1 year old tomorrow, so we had a party today in celebration. What a wonderful day we had. Ted wanted to invite the people who'd been there for the birth for Hazel's party. I thought it would be nice to include people who've become part of her close community by caring for her, including 5 of my students. You Are My Sunshine. You are my sunshine, my lovely sunshine,. You make me happy when skies are gray. Each day you tell me.

Mary's life and times: legitimacy
http://nwcellocat.blogspot.com/2009/07/legitimacy.html
Mary's life and times. Friday, July 24, 2009. I have been thinking lately about how sometimes, and unsurprisingly when you stop to think about it for a minute, I've had this nebulous feeling of illegitimacy, unimportance, reduction in stature somehow. Why is it unsurprising? So, what is legitimacy? Is it internally derived, or externally conferred? So, let's check the dictionary for some help. From Merriam/Webster, online:. Main Entry: le·git·i·ma·cy. Def: : the quality or state of being legitimate.

Mary's life and times: February 2009
http://nwcellocat.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Mary's life and times. Thursday, February 12, 2009. Life: crisis = chaos/opportunity. The timeline we're hoping for: remodel, deep clean, relaxed reorg of our stuff, house appraisal, birth of our child. The timeline we will get may be totally different. We just hope that the last item doesn't happen literally in the middle of any of the others. But we'll just have to wait and see. On another note, why would we want to include tax breaks in a stimulus package for the economy? Monday, February 2, 2009.

Mary's life and times: January 2008
http://nwcellocat.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Mary's life and times. Thursday, January 10, 2008. To try to turn to a positive note after days of politically related worry. To Whomever Reads This:. I have spent the past few days reading, thinking, worrying, and downright obsessing about the US Presidential race. I have gotten so deep into fear and depression, that I have decided I need to do a few things to counter that, or I'll stop being productive on a day-to-day basis. I want to live in an America in which we recognize that we can't all "just get...

Mary's life and times: Wedding gigs, traveling with the baby
http://nwcellocat.blogspot.com/2009/07/wedding-gigs-traveling-with-baby.html
Mary's life and times. Sunday, July 12, 2009. Wedding gigs, traveling with the baby. Bottom line: it was fun, and I'm glad we went. BUT there were challenges. Transcription on the fly:. Because I am feeling intimidated by the software and haven't touched it though it's been loaded on my machine for over a year. *blush*. The Preciousness of Modern American Weddings:. Well, what can I say? We absolutely loved our community-produced wedding! Sleeping away from home, and My Princess-On-The-Pea self:.

Mary's life and times: May 2009
http://nwcellocat.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Mary's life and times. Thursday, May 28, 2009. My dad, coming into the room, looked a bit mystified, and asked, "Is it a metronome? I laughed and laughed, as the yellow arm of my breast pump went in and out with its irritating hiss. This is a sound I'll be hearing for a good long time, so I figure I'd better accept it. There are many things that I'm grateful for, which I'll detail in a minute, but first. Hmmm which risk do I want to take today? Labels: breastfeeding nursing motherhood breastpump.

Mary's life and times: September 2009
http://nwcellocat.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Mary's life and times. Thursday, September 24, 2009. I can't tell you how much it warmed my heart to see his pride and delight, and to hear them all enjoying each other. I hear them coming now (I listen for them), and it's so fun to hear them enthusiastically great my baby, "It's Hazel! The younger one is autistic, and his engaged interaction with her seems wonderful for him as well as for her. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Seattle, WA, United States.
