Noun endings. | The Blotted Line

I’ve been studying Russian for the past year — I took an intro-level course during my undergrad, and am now using Nicholas J. Brown’s. New Penguin Russian Course. So today marks the day that I was able to write down complete sets of noun endings for masculine, feminine, and neuter nouns in all their configurations (that’s 156 endings! Should probably study pronoun and adjective endings more extensively though. Posted in I heart grammar forever. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Being t...

This week in books. →. I am still trying to learn…. The rules for the genitive plural in Russian. For some reason it has lots of variations and exceptions and I can’t really keep them straight in my head. My course book says that a lot of native Russian speakers have to look up the genitive plural though, so maybe I should stop trying? Posted in I heart grammar forever. I am still trying to learn… →. I’ve been reading Frances Boothby’s. About halfway through right now). The crux of the play is that King Sigismund is in love with Marcelia but she’s so chaste and loyal that she’ll never leave her lover Lotharicus so her social-climbing cousin Melynet agrees to break the couple up by making it seem like Lotharicus is courting another lady (he gets Lotharicus to court another lady on Melynet’s behalf but has Marcelia overhear the courting out of context). It’s been a year…. I suspect… →. It’s three weeks…. Until the class I’m teaching starts. And just about five until our conference. And the play we’re staging as part of the conference (for which I’m dramaturging and writing production notes) has a show in about two weeks. But I am not anxious. Not even a bit. Also when would I get to write things? But I’m also starting to look forward to the end of July when things will quiet down a little. And then there will be time for naps again. But she also runs over after her naps, floofy tail held high and meowing her not-quite-meow (a tiny, scratchy roar, really) because it’s crucial to greet everyone after you haven’t seen them for a while.
