Daisy on the Serenity. Thursday, March 6, 2014. March 6, 2014 – Heading towards La Paz. The last two weeks have been a lovely -and mostly unsuccessful - fish hunt. If somehow I had forgotten, I was reminded that I am married to a man who would rather fish than do almost anything else. So early the 22. Of February, we left Puerto Escondido to head way off shore to the east of Isla Catalina where the fish were rumored to hang out. It was a spectacular day. The sea was glassy as a pond and the sky clear.

Port Orford proved to be a great moorage. Because we had stopped at noon on the 24. We felt like we had a holiday. By 6 am on Sunday the 25. We were off and heading north to Coos Bay. Many of these are named. While some, like Pillar Rock, NW Rock, Haystack Rock are obvious, others, like Fox Rock must have really stories. A stop at Coos Bay would.

As we had discovered last year, there are flocks of little yellow butterflies that are found even way off shore. I don’t know where they are the rest of the year, but it made us feel like old timers to see them again and be able to say – oh yes, as usual in the fall. For now we will bundle up and enjoy the North Country, our family and the holiday season. How lucky we are!

Today Serenity left La Paz after 5 wonderful years. We originally came for one year and then could not leave.
