Friday, March 27, 2009. Although for a while he seemed to be feeling better, Dakota's tummy issues cont. Inued through the weekend. And guide dog work does not mix well with tummy problems. At all costs we try to avoid what we call "dirty walks." (I'll just let you figure out what that is! Why didn't you say so?

Friday, July 31, 2009. At the Garden Center. With an afternoon cool enough to contemplate an outdoor walk, I thought it would be fun to take Dakota to a nearby garden center. Here are some lessons we went over. No matter how good things smell, I'm still expected to focus. Wind chimes are annoying, but okay.

But this morning she put the dining room chairs on the bedroom side of it with the backs of the chairs against the fencing. Suddenly I got it: Instead of keeping me out of it, she wanted to keep me IN it. The chairs made the fencing higher so I wouldn't be able to jump out. She underestimated me again. Well, this week mama brought me to "that" place again. That place where there are lots of dogs and cats that don't look happy, has lines of cages, and lots of people in scrubs. They call it a Vet Specialty Center. I call it a hospital. Mama brought me in on Monday afternoon and. They gave me something horrible to make me spend most of the night pooping. Fun. Yeah. Right. This was the back yard of our house when we first moved in. See the patches of weeds among those rocks? The stone part of the yard, which is most of it, was covered in it. It was so bad last week it looked like the grass expanded. This is what it looks like after grandpa had some landscapers come in and "de-weed" the back yard. I miss the weeds. They were yummy. Mama said that I owe George a BIG apology. Apparently he didn't appreciate me barking and growling at him when he came over to let me and my schnauzer friend outside. She wasn't gone long, though. I think she's trying to leave me out for short periods of time in an attempt to wean me off of the crate. Anyway, when she came back in, I was lying down in (or should I say on) a unique spot. Then she tossed the "tennis ball dumbbell" and I played a bit. Overall I'd say it was a pretty good day.
