DAY TEN : Festival food, clothes shopping and a slip up. So it's the beginning of day ten of my cleanse diet. I have branched out and bought new veggies that I've never had. Daiokon radish : hate it. Mung Beans : OK in stir fry, YUCKY raw. Beets : Just can't seem to get into them, but I'm going to keep trying. Chayote Squash : Haven't yet tried it, but I'm excited to. Endive : Haven't tried it yet either, but I'm sure it will be tasty. And I went shopping and, well, shopping is exhausting! Also, I had a ...

Momma K: The younger years
http://kristola.blogspot.com/2009/10/younger-years.html
Josh* and his best friend Jeremy* used to make fun of me and my best friend. I actually have seen Jeremy around the area a few times. He's hard to miss, really. He's been in a wheelchair for most of his life. I realize that he probably was a very angry kid and took his aggressions and anger out on others but I don't give him a pass for the awfulness. Many people are dealt an awful set of cards and if they make the. My mother used to point out that I would only wear exceptionally baggy clothes with barely...

Happy Birthday, Derick. This time, 14 years ago, you were almost 24 hours old. Time flies, doesn't it? I remember when you were just a few days old and I took you to the grocery store where your Meemaw worked and everyone fussed over you and commented about how cute you were. I was only 17 at the time but I was old enough to beam with pride and agree that yes, you were adorable and a special and totally awesome. I remember when we took our first and only vacation just the two of us. Remember? Other memor...

Momma K: Away I go...
http://kristola.blogspot.com/2009/10/away-i-go.html
I'm leaving for Vegas today and I'm exceptionally excited. The last time I went I don't think I took full advantage of all that Vegas has to offer. I remember going to bed before 1 AM which I'm told is an absolute lame thing to do. In an effort to get there earlier and spend more time with my friends I'm going to attempt to fly stand-by on the earlier flight. There's are supposedly 20 available seats so I should be golden. If not then I suppose I'll start pounding back drinks while at the airport. Its be...

A shift in decorating. Anyone who's been to my house knows that I am not afraid of color. I have bright red, yellow and blue walls in different rooms in my house. Orange, too! I don't lean toward beige's or taupe's or other muddy brown colors. They seem so, I don't know, brown. I just can't get into them. It's the same for white walls and white furniture. But (there's always a but, isn't there? I bought a lovely woven jute rug for my living room this weekend and the color is the gorgeous wheat-grass-blow...
