STEEL TRELLIS TABLE #1. On the welding table during assembly. Just after final assembly. The design concept expresses the structural simplicity of a stacked light top supported by the stronger continuous legs. The steel members alternate from solid to hollow and vary in section with each layer. The design provided the opportunity to hand cut and saw cut the different lengths of steel. The repetitive pieces allowed for welding practice while providing additional strength to the piece.

The daughter/husband purchased the farmhouse from the mother/father, and design options for potential additions and renovations took place while the parents occupied a nearby apartment. A special portal is built into the vertical slat nearest the entrance into the room. This portal becomes a focal point drawing one into the space, while providing a location for a cherished, simple object. Lighting and power are integrated into the slats hiding them from view.
