Students may not take tests on books more than 1 level below their reading level. Example: I read at a 3rd grade level. I may not test on a 1st Grade level book. However, if I am a 3rd grader who reads on a 4th grade level, I can still take 3rd grade level books. You must read the entire book before taking a test on it. Do not take a test if you’ve only “seen the movie.”. Do not help other students with their tests. This is cheating. 5 Do not use the book while testing. This is cheating.

The librarian will set student goals each nine weeks. 1st through 3rd grade student goals are based on the student’s ZPD reading range from the STAR test. Goals will increase each nine weeks. Example: ZPD (1.5 - 2.5) X 15 minutes Daily Reading Time = 4.3 points per nine weeks. ZPD (1.5 - 2.5) X 20 minutes Daily Reading Time = 5.7 points per nine weeks.
