non narrative: A letter to a friend in philosophy.
http://nonnarrative.blogspot.com/2009/02/letter-to-friend-in-philosophy.html
Friday, February 20, 2009. A letter to a friend in philosophy. Response from the crowd. It sickened me so much I couldn't go to my night class. He bemoaned "identity", "singularity", "specificity", and "isolation" and called for a new "collectivity" that wouldn't be homogenizing. What upset me about this was (1) its utopian horizon, and lack of practical political response, and (2) its vagueness. Acid Reflux is playing tomorrow and I'll have no one to go with :(. non narrative: There is no time to wait.
http://nonnarrative.blogspot.com/2008/11/there-is-no-time-to-wait.html
Monday, November 3, 2008. There is no time to wait. But was does this mean exactly? The key illusion here is that permanence is synonymous with living. This mistake is the result of a flirtatious, un-serious engagement with the prospect of dying; the immediate result of such a flirtation is the understanding that "I will die" and its subsequent fear of death. But where does this leave the living person interested in preserving life in the face of the relentless and unsympathetic passing of time? You have...

Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Taiwan may not be the location to best exemplify the destructive impulse in this global trend in too-fast development. I mean this only in the sense that Taiwan’s government (outside of the national question with China) is stable, and enjoys a vital democratic sphere, and relatively high standard of living. In this way director Tsai Ming-Liang’s film is both a testament of the times, yet in its specific choice of location ahistorical. Monday, November 3, 2008. They look toward...

THE NIGHT TIME IS THE RIGHT TIME. Insomnia Electricity = FANTA SE. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Media-darling Karr won't be charged. Have you been following the JonBenet murder mystery for the last decade? The press has. Most recently, CNN, FOX etc. went crazy for 12 straight days, posturing and weighing the guilt of John M. Karr. An admittedly-deranged, pedophile spotlight-grabber. There was apparently no evidence. Other than his own confessions in Thailand; it is apparent that the man just wanted attention.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Straits of Chosun: Film on the Colonial Peninsula. Was shown as part of a series of Korean occupation films at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City last month. In the introductory essay to the book. Colonial Modernity in Korea. If only because it seems to hold true for the events tha...
