Against the Odds | Dance the River
https://dancetheriver.wordpress.com/2011/12/29/against-the-odds
Just another WordPress.com site. December 29, 2011 in Uncategorized. Going against the odds. The purple coneflowers have long since given up their blooms, all except this solitary lady, a firecracker of color in a blanket of fallen leaves. I transplanted her and some others a month ago with great emotional fanfare, releasing them from pots where they’d been captive for three years. I put them in the ground on my new property, just outside the dwelling I’m preparing for myself. December 29, 2011 at 6:24 am.
A Small Globe of Glass | Dance the River

Just another WordPress.com site. A Small Globe of Glass. December 19, 2011 in Uncategorized. Cleaning out the shed. Junk in the shed. Taking myself too seriously. It’s interesting what can happen when you mix sun and rain with one little Christmas ornament. A few weeks ago, I stood outside my storage shed, looking in dismay at all my stuff. It is time to move, time to thin out this packrat’s stash of family artifacts, materials for dream projects, broken lamps, and wind chimes that need re-stringing.

Just another WordPress.com site. December 9, 2011 in Converting a Used Portable Classroom into a Home. Creativity, Self-Expression, Struggles and Obstacles Overcome. I stood in the near-dark a few nights ago, thrilled to be able to burn a small pile of limbs and dead wood, one of many piles waiting for attention on my property. I watched this one crackle and crumble in the face of the flames. I wielded my pitchfork with care, keeping the water hose close at hand. Or am I just making one holy mess? It has...

Just another WordPress.com site. November 14, 2011 in Positive Aging. Tags: Adults tending to aging parents. It’s Monday, 6:00 in the morning, a time when my generally restless, wound-up body is finally wedging itself into a dark and dreamy hollow of the night. Something causes me to stir. Is it my cell phone ringing, or did I dream it? Mother, I’m on the way. I’ll be there shortly. He said as he sat rocking in his chair. I didn’t know it was my birthday. He smiled when I told him we’d have cake ...On Su...

11 May 2009 by Cait. The tag on my Good Earth tea bag today was from Harriet Beecher Stowe – “The kindest thing we can give folks in the end is the truth.”. Funny coming from a woman who wrote propaganda. 11 May 2009 by Cait. And now, in four weeks I’ll be a homeschool graduate, going into something I’ve never been in before. Not in school. How strange! What makes it surreal is that I’ve never woken up and not been doing school at home unless it was summer, and then autumn is always fast approaching.
