Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: Disreputable Planet
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2007/02/disreputable-planet.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. Given the opportunity there aren’t many places in the wouldn’t go; Kyrgyzstan, Chad, you name it. But one place I would not. Go is Burma. —Now don’t get me wrong, I’d love. To go It’s supposed to be beautifully amazing. However, democratically elected leader and Noble Prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi. Asked tourist not to visit Burma after the military seized power in 1988. Back in November (when I wanted to write this post, but didn’t have time), Lonely Planet. To go against the...

Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: Tibet, China, Xinhua News Agency and the Ministry of Truth
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2008/03/tibet-china-xinhua-news-agency-and.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. Tibet, China, Xinhua News Agency and the Ministry of Truth. I notice it’s been a while since I’ve gotten all ranty. I’ve been busy with other things; mostly trying to keep from losing my mind because of my university. But the violence in Tibet is bringing out the finger-wagging in me – and not just wagging, but pointing and reviling and j’accuse. Xinhua, the Chinese state news agency, is publishing such total bullcrap with regards to the situation! Or, if that wasn’t naus...

Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: A Streetcar Named Displeasure
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2007/01/streetcar-named-displeasure.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. A Streetcar Named Displeasure. While I appreciate the aesthetic pleasantry of streetcars, I hate pretty much everything else about them. From the jerky, lurching ride to the simply terrible. On time performance records, there’s a lot not to love. Quite frankly I can not imagine a worse. Form of transportation (except perhaps harnessing a team of blind monkeys to pull me down the street on a sled). Much better if the streetcar stop was after the intersection (I know that’s...

Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: Pope calls same sex-unions 'weak and deviant'
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2006/10/pope-calls-same-sex-unions-weak-and.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. Pope calls same sex-unions 'weak and deviant'. As if it wasn't bad enough that we had to wait a million years for John-Paul to die, now we're stuck with awful Ratzinger who is even worse! Is so chock-a-block full of the Pope's contractions that it makes my head want to explode. First he says the Church must say "'no' to weak and deviant forms of love." Now I didn't pay a whole lot of attention in Sunday school, but I'm pretty sure Jesus loved everybody. Trying to exert his poli...

Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: I Made This! — Maple Cake
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2009/11/i-made-this-maple-cake.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. 8212; Maple Cake. My dance class has been invited to perform at the closing gala of the St-Étienne film festival. We decided to take advantage of yesterday public holiday and meet up in the afternoon to go over our show. I thought it a good opportunity to showcase my country's one contribution to the culinary world and make a Maple Cake to bring along. All in all, another A recipe for Donna (though really does she have any other kind? Posted by Tokyo Tintin. Labels: I Made This.

Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: They Got the Red Book, They Got the New Look
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2007/01/they-got-red-book-they-got-new-look.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. They Got the Red Book, They Got the New Look. Remember back in the day when everyone hated on the Soviet Union and got upset when they used their superior gymnastic technology to beat us in the Olympics? Then they self-destructed and it was America 's turn to be top-dog obnoxious bully. Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm calling it right now and you heard it here first: the 21st century's super-power super-villain is the People's Republic of China . Hey PRC: Get the hell out of Tib...

Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: Fretful Frenchie Frustration
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2007/06/fretful-frenchie-frustration.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. After being accepted to school in Paris in May, I was told I would be receiving a information package in the mail in June with all the necessary info about the school and moving to France. So I waited and I waited and I waited (because it's only uprooting my whole life and moving to a different continent, so I'm sure. The less time I have, the easier it will be to: find an apartment, buy a plane ticket, arrange my student visa, move my stuff, get insurance, etc.). 01 July, 2007...

Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: Stephen Effing Harper!
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2007/02/stephen-effing-harper.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. As if it wasn't bad enough to be forced to watch our tax dollars being wasted on Stéphan Dion smear ads during prime time, then this. Poll came out showing that the Conservatives are actually gaining. Lets review a few of the asinine thing Harper has done since taking power just one short (though eternity-seeming) year ago:. 164; Reopened the (already settled by the Supreme Court) equal marriage debate. 164; Cancelled a national daycare plan. Using racial stereotypes and person...

Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond: PM calls Quebec 'a nation'
http://welcome-to-tokyo-mr-bond.blogspot.com/2006/11/pm-calls-quebec-nation.html
Welcome to Tokyo, Mr Bond. PM calls Quebec 'a nation'. Toronto Star article here. I have rather mixed feelings about this. In a way it’s good, but in another way it’s rather insulting. Why are only Quebecers a ‘nation’ and not all French-Canadians? Does that mean that Anglo-Quebecers are a part of that nation as well? What about First Nations’ people who live in Quebec; do they belong to their aboriginal nation or their Quebec nation? Slap from the Québécois, and now the. Slap from the federal government.
