Dangerous Dan's Blog: October 2013
http://dangerousdansblog.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
All Dan, All the Time. Pretty much just photos these days. Thursday, October 31, 2013. Four hours of freedom. Midnight will be here in four hours and some change. This isn't the least prepared I've ever been for a National Novel Writing Month but it's close. I plan on throwing some things in early on in case I get stuck later. Like some mysterious spider creature in the woods everyone calls The Red Widow and cannibal mole people living beneath the hills. Thursday, October 24, 2013. One Week From Tomorrow.
Dangerous Dan's Blog: Day 10
http://dangerousdansblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/day-10.html
All Dan, All the Time. Pretty much just photos these days. Friday, July 10, 2015. It's day 10 and I'm way behind. However, since I lowered the bar, I'm not worried in the slightest. One good thing about not feeling attempting to blaze through 75k as quickly as possible is that I have time to pick and choose my words. Some of the prose I've written so far is the best I've ever done. The weekend is coming up and I'm planning on playing catch-up to a degree. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saying goodby...
Dangerous Dan's Blog: January 2014
http://dangerousdansblog.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
All Dan, All the Time. Pretty much just photos these days. Monday, January 27, 2014. To Thine Own Self Be True. I lost interest in the novella I was writing. You'd think I'd learn that when I set out to copy something, I never finish it. This time, I created a Doctor Who type of character. I think I should stick with detective fiction featuring my own characters instead of trying to write sci-fi featuring Doctor Who with a lick of paint. That being said, I've got some fresh crime ideas in my head. An ide...

All Dan, All the Time. Pretty much just photos these days. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. One more day. Quite a bit less than that, in fact. It occurs to me that in NaNos past, I've made all chapters the same length and wrote a chapter a day, which makes writing 70-80k fairly manageable as long as I find time to write every day. Monday, June 29, 2015. Camp NaNoWriMo kicks off Wednesday. I am not as prepared as I would like to be but I could be in a lot worse shape. Over the weekend, I changed the nature of the ...
Dangerous Dan's Blog: December 2013
http://dangerousdansblog.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
All Dan, All the Time. Pretty much just photos these days. Thursday, December 12, 2013. I don't think I've mentioned it but I've made some money via photography in the last few weeks. I took a family portrait for my cousin and sold three photos on Society6. My invitation to the Millionaire's Club has not yet arrived in the mail, however. I interviewed my favorite living crime writer, Lawrence Block. My new camera is pretty damn sweet. 60x optical zoom? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Shelf Inflicted Web Store.

The Periodic Table of Elephants: Book Review: "Alan Turing: The Enigma"
http://periodictableofelephants.blogspot.com/2015/02/book-review-alan-turing-enigma.html
Book reviews, science talk, science-fiction chat and general geekiness. Wednesday, 4 February 2015. Book Review: "Alan Turing: The Enigma". I feel that I should also say that I did enjoy the movie. As far as movies go it was entertaining and also a bit educational. But I guess going into this book I expected a bit more continuity. Cumberbatch's Turing is not. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Book Review: 'In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex' by Nathaniel Philbrick. But it also goes on to talk about the aftereffects of the tragedy and how the survivors went on living. A great read that taught me a lot about the whaling industry with a lot about ocean survival. Recommended to all fans of those two...

The Periodic Table of Elephants: April 2014
http://periodictableofelephants.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Book reviews, science talk, science-fiction chat and general geekiness. Wednesday, 23 April 2014. Someone's taking the Piss. In the early morning of the 16th of April a teenager from Portland in the U.S. drunkenly peed into one of the city's drinking water reservoirs. The trouble is that he did it in front of a security camera and this footage has gone public. The city's solution: drain and dump 145 million litres of drinkable water. Lets do some quick calculations. Tuesday, 15 April 2014. Of course Theo...

Book reviews, science talk, science-fiction chat and general geekiness. Wednesday, 26 February 2014. The Oldest Rocks on Earth. Zircon crystals are brilliant for radioactive dating because of two reasons. Firstly they're tough, they last a long time and can withstand an amount of tectonic pressures. Secondly, and most importantly, they form with radioactive uranium in their structures AND they do not form with lead in their structures. Why is this significant? Each radioactive decay happens at its own ra...

Official Review Request Guidlines. The Bizarro Interview Series. Thursday, March 22, 2018. My rating: 4 of 5 stars. Caesura, Texas, is a sleepy town where no one remembers their past, witnesses and criminals living out a unique form of witness protection. When Sheriff Calvin Cooper suddenly has a murder to deal with, he has his work cut out for him. Who could the killer be if he's the only one that's supposed to have a gun and half the town could be murderers? The Blinds reminded me of Pines. Hard-boiled...
