Daniel grew up in Birmingham. He became interested in art during high school, when a mentor introduced him to block printing. Afterwards he began the undergraduate architecture program at Auburn University, where he participated in the Rural Studio outreach in Greensboro, AL. Architecture sparked an interest in spatial studies and design concepts, but he became aware of an increasing urge to work more hands-on.

As an artist, I am:. Interested in communicating ideas that arise through the process of making. Through this relation of process and idea, materials have value based on their utility, their relationship with other materials, and their aesthetic qualities. I seek to make art that could have come from the ground. The studio is a place of surrender and intuition. I sense something bigger than myself, mysterious and visceral.
