Viewing Posts matching 'speechless'. Written on 15-Jan-2011 by asqui. I have previously written about Harry Eng’s Impossible Bottles. But there is another style of beautiful engineering which is not so much impossible but involves painstaking dedication, ingenuity, and sometimes a touch of insanity. Exhibit A: Handmade Vacuum Tubes. Enjoys creating vacuum tube amplifiers from scratch, as seen in this step-by-step video. Exhibit B: Binary Adding Machine in Wood. O2 Bandwidth Test 2010 - Daniel Fortunov
http://www.danielfortunov.com/$daniel_fortunovs_blog/2010/09/22/o2_bandwidth_test_2010
O2 Bandwidth Test 2010. Back to Personal Blog. Written on 22-Sep-2010 by asqui. The results from my annual home broadband speed test this year indicate:. An almost linear decline of off-peak downstream bandwidth 1Mb/s slower per year. Ping latency has almost halved since last year. Upload speed is stable around 1Mb/s. The declining download speed is not much concern to me, as it is consistent and more than fast enough for my requirements. Broadband Speed Test Results 2010. Send to a friend.

What uber-geeks do in their spare time - Daniel Fortunov
http://www.danielfortunov.com/$daniel_fortunovs_blog/2008/03/21/what_ubergeeks_do_in_their_spare_time
What uber-geeks do in their spare time. Back to Personal Blog. Written on 21-Mar-2008 by asqui. I'm always amused by the racket of a souped-up boy-racer speeding past in a car that sounds like it's about to fall to bits from the resonance of the exhaust pipe (or is it the oversized sub-woofer? If you're going to do it right, you have to do it hard-core. My suggestion to the boy racers would be to cash in the garish body kit and go get an engineering degree. That's what Ron Patrick did! http://bedeah.blogspot.com/2009/08/days-of-week.html
Always traveling, always at home. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Days of the week. When I was wee, I could tell the days of the week because I had awesome underwear. Now I'm leaving just as I learned a new way to do it:. Mondays: half price wine at Il Vicino. Tuesdays: $2 Fat Tires at Old Chicago. Wednesdays: Quiz Night at McCabe's. Thursdays: T'irsty T'ursdays at Quinn's. American Black Chick in London. I had underwear that told me the day of the week too! August 19, 2009 at 7:02 AM. View my complete profile.
A Constant Homecoming: Pictorial
http://bedeah.blogspot.com/2009/08/pictorial.html
Always traveling, always at home. Saturday, August 22, 2009. Ughhhh, yesterday I had some bizarro 12-hour flu thing. Left work a bit early and passed out at home after drinking copious amounts of ginger ale. Bingo! Miracle cure. I'm amazed that I've avoided getting sick for so long, what with the whole "working at a hospital" thing. My auntie and uncle are coming to visit! One of the unforeseen effects of my upcoming move is my re-devotion to the written word. The REAL written word, i.e. pen ...I have qu...
A Constant Homecoming: Scarlet Harlot
http://bedeah.blogspot.com/2009/04/scarlet-harlot.html
Always traveling, always at home. Saturday, April 11, 2009. Lent's over tomorrow. I can drink beer again! However, I think I'm being punished for something because a lovely cold hit me a day or so ago which will make enjoyment of beer a smidge more difficult. I can wait and in the meantime drown my sorrows in Russian spice tea and food with a tablespoon or two of red pepper flakes added. However, I was talking to the chaplains a couple days ago and found out some Fun Facts! Shut up, this will work.).
A Constant Homecoming: This week....
http://bedeah.blogspot.com/2009/07/this-week.html
Always traveling, always at home. Thursday, July 30, 2009. That two dollars (or whatever) a month? Got service within half an hour, the dude was awesome, and my friend and I just hung out on her tailgate, drinking cheap wine out of juice glasses and laughing about the day. (This was a huge step up from feeling like punching someone in the knee.). Moral of the story: Progressive Roadside Assistance all the way! Like the dude says, a non-insured visit costs $60. Six months of Roadside?
A Constant Homecoming: Heavy thoughts
http://bedeah.blogspot.com/2009/10/heavy-thoughts.html
Always traveling, always at home. Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Little by little, I'm getting prepared for my imminent (three weeks! Who else would purposely put themselves in harm's way to fight an admittedly hard-to-find enemy? They're all so young. Guys my age and younger, giving everything. And somehow I can't even put into words how heartbreaking this is. So so young. It hurts my heart but makes me even more determined to keep on with what I'm doing. If they can give so much, I can do my part.
