End of Act One. What a man-to-man race the relay turned out to be! Because of an organisational mishap, the first teams of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania had all the same forkings throughout all three legs. The fast course made the race very tight, it all lasted til the last climb on the last leg. Right there I saw Raphanus". What do you make of this? The Mark Has Been Made. Finally, I am an Estonian Champion! I won with only a 4 second margin ahead of Timo. Furthermore, he defeated Olle. By only 1 second!

That WOC post never came, did it? I've been digesting that story ever since and looks like it's going to have to wait for better times. Sorry to those who were truly waiting for that reading. PS I have to mention my awesome PWT trip to China with awesome people and awesome orienteering. The sprint in Wansheng was indisputably the most fun, interesting and tricky sprint in my life. It's time to end this unannounced hiatus, from one spring-camp-in-the-south post to another –. This time near Murcia and Alicante, Spain. Timo at Coto de las Maravillas. Early Season in Portugal. The season is approaching fast, it's just a month left now until World Cup second round in Spain. And European Championships in Portugal. In the beginning of April. Jukola and WOC Camps. The first WOC camp this year was at the end of May around Koli national park in North Karelia, which is a fantastic place! The variating trainings were a lot of fun, especially on the demanding and beautiful terrains around Tahkovaara! Some trainings from the camp: Tahkovaara intervals map. Right after the camp, I participated in Väinänperän middle distance competition. The weekend before Jukola, I ran at Suunto Games. Before the big Jukola. Wow, the guys had been running really well.

The qualification was quite easy and made the tight competition even tighter. The legs were a bit stiff and it felt like running at maximum capacity. Fortunately I managed to make a clean solid race as needed at a qualification and was 3rd behind Thierry and Pasi. Final by Tuomo Puskala. Eventually I finished 13th, 3:10 behind Thierry. Now it's five days left until my first race here, at World Championships in Vuokatti, Finland. WOC middle final 2012. Let the O-party begin! My schedule is quite short and tight, three days in a row: middle qualification final on Thursday Friday and relay on Saturday.
