They have the best community meetings, it seems as if everyone attends and it is expected, without him having to ask anyone to come. 1 What an organization values- This is a process and you need instructional rationale behind the request. 2 Discretionary funds - 85% of the budget is in salary and benefits, not much left. 3 Internal Process - Superintendent needs to make decisions. Sometimes it is like an ocean liner - moving straight but the little rudder steers the big rudder. Important: Budget the Plan, Instead of planning the budget. The conflict is built in as "we" "them". School Leaders are the chief steward of relationships you are the diplomat that brings people together that may or may not know one another. You work with the Board. Show appreciation for teachers. You live by the sword- You die by the sword". Negotiations: If you don't value teacher you will have a difficult time. If you expect failure you probably will. You need someone in your life that believes in you. I have my dad. I can always turn to him to give me advice. Action without goals is meaningless. Ch 9 and 10. Need to trust. I trust everyone at first, then I stop trusting if I am someone lies to me or I am manipulated. Make a point to recognize people for their work. Create a climate of trust. Share first. Reciprocity: willingness to be cooperative, but unwilling to be taken advantage of. Recognize that everyone in the group brought value to the whole team. This is an important concept.
