Coming from a country where people don’t really take to the streets in the same way, I am always impressed by people’s willingness to put their lives in danger to speak out against a system of government they don’t agree with or believe in. Being that a lot of my personal projects revolve around LGBTQ issues, I was super thrilled to photograph Lima’s 12th annual pride parade–a welcome change of pace from the religious holidays I am used to photographing (not to say that I don’t also enjoy them! About a week and a half late in posting, but these are some photographs from the Corpus Christi celebrations in Lima and Cusco. In Lima, hundreds crowded the Plaza Mayor to attend mass and watch a procession led by Cardinal Cipriani. The religious ceremonies were followed by crowds atop crowds singing and cheering to music with balloons and confetti. This entry was published on June 11, 2013 at 8:12 pm.
