In June 2011 I took part in DMUK's Alps Challenge. 2 days before we set off we held a media day at DMUK HQ in Norwich. In January 2012 I spoke on BBC Look North about the new Blue badges for disabled motorists and how important it is to get enforcement right.

Journeys in Words and on Wheels. Let's get the intros done. I'm Dan, in my 30s, currently living in Liversedge, West Yorkshire, UK with my Fiancee Yvonne and her 3 kids Libby, Mat and Joe. In 2005 I became disabled with a mental illness called Conversion Disorder which, simply put, is when the subconscious doesn't know how to handle a traumatic situation and so converts that trauma into a physical disability. I have also beaten off Cancer twice (Colon and Prostate) and have failure of my left kidney.

In June 2011 I recreated a journey first made by Oswald Arthur Denly (known as Denny) in 1947, using the same Argson tricycle he had used and which was built in 1932. Journeys in Words and on Wheels. I am currently working on The Descent, a novel about Iain and his journey from the world of the able-bodied to another world. A world of disability, stigma, loss of independence, denial and loss of dignity. But it is also a world of new friends, new experiences, laughter and acceptance.
