Friday, February 8, 2008. The classic speech that I gave was William Faulkner's Nobel Prize speech. His speech was originally given at a time of fear from possible atomic war. The content of this speech is well writen and has a powerful meaning. In his speech, he reminds young writers to write about, ".the problems of the human heart in conflict with itself.". William Faulkner was a famous writer during the 20th century. Some of his works include: The Sound and the Fury. As I Lay Dying, Sanctuary.

In his speech he is addressing you writers during a time when people were very afraid of possible atomic warfare. He wanted to remind these writers of their duty to writing. He wants people to not just focus on "When will I be blown up? Hanna: I enjoyed your speech, too. You did a nice job and seem to understand a lot of what Faulkner was trying to get across. Friday, March 7, 2008. Was about phobias as a whole, mainly about fighting fears, and a brief overview of popular phobias and strange phobias. Many of the phobias are so obvious that it's almost impossible to not have a whole slue of them. Wednesday, April 23, 2008. My slideshow was about the ancient Mayan ballgames. I chose to do this topic because I had recently studied it in my spanish class and was very interested in the topic. I thought I made a pretty good slideshow, it was hard to cut out a lot of the pictures I originally put in it. It was hard though, because of our age there's not much more to us than the colleges we've applied to and the bands we like. Also, there was a limited amount of time to learn about the person. Monday, March 10, 2008. Fear of the Dark. For the pet peeve/ phobia speech, my topic was about my fear of the dark. I chose to talk about this topic because the dark has been a fear of mine ever since I was little. For someone listening to the MP3 version of my speech they should know that even though the fear of the dark may seem very cliche.
