Can I Program Yet? Notes as I Learn Coding and Software Development. 21 Months of Programming! How it’s going:. Applications responses in January continued to be super slow, whether that was due to the time of year, bad luck, or applying to the wrong jobs. I’m now trying to spend 100% of my time between applications, tests, and HackerRank challenges. Hopefully things will pick up a bit more this month. At this point there’s not much left to do but keep applying and studying and working on projects. I sen...

Can I Program Yet? Notes as I Learn Coding and Software Development. The best part of having this blog (besides you guys) is that whenever I feel like I’m getting nowhere, I go back and read through from the beginning. This always helps remind me how far I’ve come. This morning went through all the posts again, and realized how much happened this year that I had already forgotten about. Essentially everything I’ve learned about web development happened in 2016. Bash - Customized Bash Prompt. HTML/CSS - P...

Can I Program Yet? — Portfolio Progress 6

Can I Program Yet? Notes as I Learn Coding and Software Development. Made some more improvements to the Projects section today. I made screenshots of matching dimensions for all the projects, and improved the styling on the cards. This also required some small JS changes to add classnames etc. I was originally planning on adding more interactivity to the Projects section, but I think I might leave it as it is for now, since it seems to match pretty well with the skills section. Can I Program Yet? Notes as I Learn Coding and Software Development. I had my first call today with a recruiting agency my friend recommended, and it went pretty well. Even if they don’t end up finding me a single job opportunity, it was a good chance to practice talking about myself, what I’ve learned, and why I want to change careers. I’ve been working on my resume for the last week, and It’s starting to shape up:. I was able to get some pretty great feedback on /r/webdev. July 28, 2016.

Can I Program Yet? Notes as I Learn Coding and Software Development. Spent some time this week working on another round of improvements for my portfolio site. I finally added some icons and styling for the Resume and Contact sections. I’m not necessarily satisfied with how it looks, but I’m trying to just worry about whether I’m making improvements, and it’s definitely much better than the last version. October 4, 2016. Can I Program Yet? — Apartment Description Highlights (Project)

Can I Program Yet? Notes as I Learn Coding and Software Development. Apartment Description Highlights (Project). Take a detailed description of an apartment, and a search query. Use them to generate a shorter highlight snippet made of only relevant phrases. This project was assigned to me as a coding test, and apparently I did well enough on it to earn a phone interview! I also learned a lot in the process, and got more practice coding under pressure, which are valuable in and of themselves.

Can I Program Yet? Notes as I Learn Coding and Software Development. Welp, I’ve got a domain name pointing to a big long page of unstyled HTML content. Doesn’t seem like much yet, but I’m trying to follow some great advice. And approach it bit by bit rather than having everything all planned out. This blog’s url is now a subdomain of that domain, but everything should be redirecting nicely and cause no problems when browsing or clicking old links. August 5, 2016. Also, rather than listing things like # o...
