Richard Barnes - Writer: May 2013

Richard Barnes - Writer. Friday, May 31, 2013. DOCTOR WHO REVIEW - Nightmare in Silver. Now we’re cooking with gas, or to be more accurate, Neil Gaiman is. I said in my review of Cold War that it was nudging The Snowmen and Asylum of the Daleks in quality. Nightmare in Silver is right up alongside those two – rating as one of the best Nu-Who’s of them all, and definitely the best Nu-Who Cyberman story. Next time – The Name of the Doctor. Which has some of my UK chums in a right tizzy – in...And now, can ...

Richard Barnes - Writer: Doctor Who: Robot of Sherwood Review
http://richardbarneswriter.blogspot.com/2014/09/doctor-who-robot-of-sherwood-review.html
Richard Barnes - Writer. Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Doctor Who: Robot of Sherwood Review. Clara wants to meet Robin Hood and the Doctor, grudgingly obliges, although he insists that no such person existed. However, on arrival in Sherwood Forest an arrow twangs into the Tardis, and the Doctor takes on Hood’s blade with his spoon. This very much sets the tone for the whole episode. Doctor Adventure at all. And now, Flash-fic-Fan-fic:. HungerTime – Part Three. 8220;What is happening? The saucer dissolve...

Richard Barnes - Writer: Doctor Who - Deep Breath Review
http://richardbarneswriter.blogspot.com/2014/09/doctor-who-deep-breath-review.html
Richard Barnes - Writer. Thursday, September 4, 2014. Doctor Who - Deep Breath Review. Okay – 12 episodes of Doctor Who Series 8, 12 quick and dirty reviews and 12 episodes of flash-fic fan-fic featuring the all-new 12th Doctor. Away we go…. A story turns up soon enough though; there’s a nasty cyborg thing going round snatching bits of people. There’s an excellent scene when the Doctor and Clara are lured to a restaurant (by whom? Is Clara so weak and superficial (and we’ve just spent half the epis...

Wednesday, 29 January 2014. A Short story written from a prompt shared in a writers group. The prompt - Include the phrase- "find the ration card.". Mish ran, bare feet slapping the cold, hard ground. She ducked and weaved through the crowd; their elegant robes swished over her closely cropped hair. Every now and then she reached out, slipping small hands inside a coat or robe pocket. Sometimes something, most of the time zip, like today. She quickened her pace, empty fingers twitching. The line moved on.

Monday, 22 September 2014. Hack and Slash- Gardening, not Editing. September is almost at it's end.and I have been rather unproductive writing-wise. Made a start on a few things, edited some others, rewrote some, squinted, sighed and looked out the window. Spring has arrived, the sun was up and the jungle that is my garden waved back at me with its wild untamed tenticular.everything. So I started a gardening blitz because . And every writer needs a break once in a while. Yes, I was very proud of myself.

Thursday, 6 November 2014. Short story- A shipload of trouble. 8220;Gabriel, you came.” Tesla’s heavily accented voice found me before I viewed him by sight. When I looked up at the ship’s deck the jittery excitement in his restless hands as drew out his pocket watch, and the manner in which he barely glanced at it before quickly slipping it away, worried me further. He jerkily waved me up to meet him upon the deck of the schooner. 8221; I inquired cautiously. When my stung vision cleared, I soon realize...

Friday, 24 October 2014. Gearing up for Nano 2014. Here we go . NaNoWriMo is almost here, otherwise known as National Novel Writing Month. Only a week to go! If you are not familiar, Nano is that yearly event where you are tasked with writing 50,000 words in 30 days. I've done it two years running and won both times - but not without making a splendid mess, naturally. Whispers) "it's OK first drafts are almost always terrible". Check it out, maybe even try it! 8220;So, get dressed, there’s somethin...

Friday, 2 January 2015. Here's a free read for Friday! I hope you enjoy it. It's another offering from my packed to bursting, short story files. This is one of several stories which are set on my fantasy world Tjalis Major. It's world of rival gods, outlawed magic and a pending magical apocalypse. One of my Novels (WIP)The Rise of a Dead God, explores this topsy-turvy place in greater detail. Ami Hart 2014, Banks Peninsula, NZ. If he knew I was here, Papa would beat me. Her conscience prickled at her.
