I’ll teach you all this in eight easy steps. February 23, 2010. 8212; schoencm @ 3:36 pm. It seems strange that some reputations are established or changed by a single incident, yet others can withstand many contradictory incidents and go unharmed. For example, Hondas and Toyotas are reliable cars, right? Hmm, Toyotas, not so much… After all there was that incident with the sticking accelerators…. Hmm, Hondas, I think those are fine… Right? Birthday overload? | Eight Easy Steps
https://schoencm.wordpress.com/2010/03/16/birthday-overload
I’ll teach you all this in eight easy steps. March 16, 2010. 8212; schoencm @ 4:59 pm. The last 5 times I went out of my way to remember someone’s birthday and send them an email on their special day, I didn’t even get an acknowledgement of the message. Is this because in the Facebook age, everyone knows everyone else’s birthday, and birthday wishes from everyone you know are just expected, rather than appreciated? What do I know…. Unscheduled | Eight Easy Steps

I’ll teach you all this in eight easy steps. Unscheduled April 1, 2010. 8212; schoencm @ 5:37 pm. I wonder if having unscheduled long weekends would work. For example, the government could budget for 2 per year, and then on any Thursday afternoon where it just “feels right”, they could announce that the following day would be a stat holiday. Like, if there was an amazing weather forecast or something – or whatever reason, really. In some ways it might be more fun than a scheduled holiday.

Last night we went to the Olympic torch ceremony in Kitchener, and there were protesters (“No Olympics on Stolen Native Land! Overall, it didn’t seem like a very effective protest. I’ll teach you all this in eight easy steps. November 26, 2009. 8212; schoencm @ 8:38 pm. I’m not sure how things like human embryonic stem cell research and abortion factor in though – I think those also had high acceptance rates – but these certainly don’t involve choices by the embryos to be involved. Perhaps these are “okay” because generally the being in question is (arguably) not conscious or self aware? November 16, 2009. 8212; schoencm @ 10:22 pm. But I was kind of too scared! I’ll teach you all this in eight easy steps. May 22, 2009. 8212; schoencm @ 11:46 am. I just noticed that a squirrel was building some kind of nest/home on my balcony. I banged on the window to scare the squirrel away, and then I threw all the “nesting materials” he had been accumulating off the balcony. Now I feel really bad about it. Is that weird? May 15, 2009. 8212; schoencm @ 10:04 pm. Or then would we just never get anything done… I think actually most of our actions and decisions probably ha...

I’ll teach you all this in eight easy steps. Liking the dislike March 8, 2010. 8212; schoencm @ 1:14 pm. I didn’t think it was possible to ACTUALLY not care if someone doesn’t like you. I mean, people always say they don’t care what others think about them, but deep down I think in most cases they really do. No one likes to be not liked. One Response to “Liking the dislike”. I’ll teach you all this in eight easy steps. Someone Else’s Confidence. June 30, 2009. 8212; schoencm @ 2:54 pm. Lately I’ve been thinking that in a lot of cases, the one thing which may have the greatest overall impact on my success in a task is the knowledge that someone else believes I can do it. Similarly, it seems that knowing someone else does not believe in me can erode my confidence to the point where I am actually not successful, where I otherwise might have been. June 18, 2009.
