Welcome to my running world. This weekend I turned 40. I’ll be honest, the thought of entering my fifth decade didn’t sit too well. Yes it’s only one year older from last year and I’m not over the hill just yet – life begins and all that. But 40….ugh, that just seems, well, old. One word sprang to mind….cake. Time to celebrate I reckon. October 18, 2015. A sore throat, very strong wind, rain and an injury couldn’t stop me getting a PB on what is by far my favourite half marathon course. As usual, I woke ...

gait | Darren's World

Welcome to my running world. Two years later (probably a little later than I should have left it), I asked a running coach how often should running shoes be replaced? The next day I visited a sports shop and had my style analysed again, it turns out he was right, my gait was either incorrectly diagnosed, I was told the wrong information to con me in to buying the most expensive pair of shoes in the shop or over the past few years my running style has changed, which I understand is possible. Marathon Heroes | Darren's World

Welcome to my running world. Sunday was the 35th London Marathon, I’ve trained for months over the winter but with 4 weeks to go I picked up an injury and made the difficult decision to pull out. However, even though I couldn’t experience running it, I wanted to experience the atmosphere and the fun of it all. I next met up with a few friends, via the pub and managed to shout a ‘GO Claire’ when Claire ran past, still looking happy and no sign that she has just run 16 miles. April 28, 2015. One Fun One Not.

Medway Summer 5k Series | Darren's World
http://www.darrensworld.uk/2015/07/medway-summer-5k-series
Welcome to my running world. Medway Summer 5k Series. Tonight sees the last instalment of the Medway 5k Series 2015. A total of five races held around different areas of the Medway Towns. The four races previous have been at The Great Lines, The Strand Gillingham, Capstone Park and Deangate Golf course. I’ve run in all four so far and enjoyed all of them, even if some of my times were disappointing. For me personally, what would make me think this was a good run? July 22, 2015. One Fun One Not.

Pre-Marathon Blues | Darren's World

Welcome to my running world. I’ve entered the London marathon a number of times via the ballot but have never been successful, I’m thinking maybe seven times in all? And typically, the first time I did get in, injury has prevented me from running. OK I’ve never trained for the marathon so intensely before so that probably added to the injury but I do still feel an element of bad luck that the worst injury I’ve ever had is just before the biggest race of my life. April 19, 2015. One Fun One Not.

Welcome to my running world. A sore throat, very strong wind, rain and an injury couldn’t stop me getting a PB on what is by far my favourite half marathon course. As usual, I woke up on the Saturday before, tired and with a sore throat, which always seems to happen the day before a race. But I loaded myself up with paracetamol and Berroca and carried on with the day. the injury was still quite painful, but eased enough to be able to walk normally. 8217; The club runner appeared to carry on barging peopl...
