TE 448 Spring 2008

TE 448 Spring 2008. Friday, April 25, 2008. You are what you learn. Before entering this course I would have been sure that any book that contained words in another language would have been an excellent piece of diverse literature. However, after reading the article on the use of language in children's literature, I recognized how unauthentic it was to write dialogue such as, "escucha al pavo blanco! He cried. "Listen to the white duck! 3) Representations of different groups. Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

TE 448 Spring 2008: January 2008

http://www.darylste448blog.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

TE 448 Spring 2008. Sunday, January 27, 2008. My stance in the "insider/outsider" debate. Lastly, I especially enjoyed Cai's discussion of the necessity of adopting an "issue-driven approach" through "thought-provoking books that challenge children to think about issues that they may face" (319). I think giving purpose to all forms of literature is vital in helping students to recognize the application of multiculturalism and respect  for others in may different aspects of their lives. .
