I'm biking from Irvine to San Diego - that's 100 miles - over two days in October for the National MS Society. My friend Amy's mother has MS, and watching how the National MS Society is able to fund the research needed - and the resulting treatments - is amazing. MS is not high on the government's list of research funding, so people who are affected by it, and their friends and family, do the vast bulk of the donations - $77 million worth in 2007, all of it from charitable donations.
