Monthly Yoga: January, Bikram Yoga | The Novice Yogi
https://thenoviceyogi.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/monthly-yoga-january-bikram-yoga
Monthly Yoga: January, Bikram Yoga. March 7, 2012. About this series: For 2012, I vowed to try a new type of yoga each month and write about it here. This is the first of 12 reviews–keep checking back for more! I had heard of Bikram yoga before. It’s known for being fairly intense and sometimes competitive; from my understanding, Bikram competitions are something of a controversy and may feature in the summer Olympics this year. Thankfully, the class allows for plenty of breaks, including water, and the ...

Chakras, Essential Oils, and Yoga | The Novice Yogi
https://thenoviceyogi.wordpress.com/2012/03/24/chakras-essential-oils-and-yoga
Chakras, Essential Oils, and Yoga. March 24, 2012. On Sunday, March 18, I attended a workshop at breathe. So what are essential oils, you may ask? They come from different plants and can be any part of the plant, including its leaves, twigs, roots, and resins. When you buy essential oils, you are getting oil made from the plant not perfume grade fragrances that rely mostly on synthetic chemicals. Essential oils are incredibly potent! We used Valor, which includes spruce, rosewood, blue tansy, and frankin...

40 Days Round 2: Weeks 1 & 2 | The Novice Yogi
https://thenoviceyogi.wordpress.com/2012/10/01/40-days-round-2-weeks-1-2
40 Days Round 2: Weeks 1 & 2. October 1, 2012. Yes, those are my toes, and yes, they say “40 Days! I’m happy to report that I’ve made it through the first two weeks so far. It’s been difficult this time around; unlike last time, I have a very full schedule involving teaching four English classes this semester (and having to read a seemingly infinite number of student essays! The very first day of 40 Days kicked off with a workshop entitled Tadasana in Every Asana. This workshop emphasized the Tadasana.

This is the sixth of 12 reviews keep checking back for more! Seeing as for the month of May I counted Seane Corn’s visit as my monthly yoga requirement, for June we return to our regularly scheduled series. This month, I visited the Beyond Center for Yoga and Pilates. In Brockport, NY not too far from where I live and work! We used several props thr...

Monthly Yoga: February, Restorative Yoga. March 21, 2012. About this series: For 2012, I vowed to try a new type of yoga each month and write about it here. This is the second of 12 reviews keep checking back for more! As a regular for breathe’s. Power vinyasa classes, I never really considered the merits of a restorative class. After all, I figured, why go to something that’s a bunch of breathing and laying down? Have a million different things going on in my head at any given moment, and agonize and wo...

The Year 2012 in Review. January 12, 2013. This is really just a post to say that I’m not dead, seeing as I haven’t updated since October! I left off on Weeks 3 and 4 of the 40 Days Challenge (Round 2), and I’m happy to say that I made it through Weeks 5 and 6 as well; unfortunately, life got kinda crazy and I never got the chance to update anything here. I had to drop out. However, if 40 Days is still happening sometime this spring, I should be around for it and ready for the challenge. By the end of 20...

40 Days Round 2: Weeks 3 & 4. October 17, 2012. I’m two-thirds of the way through 40 Days, and to be honest I’m actually surprised! Best part of the workshop: when Cyndi had different participants read the long, complicated lists of ingredients on Power Bars and Slim Fast. Gross! I don’t have too much to add this time around; mostly, I’ve just been trying to find the time to go to classes, get my work done at home, and maybe blog about 40 Days! As Jon Stewart says on. Filed under 40 days. Fill in your de...

This is the fourth of 12 reviews keep checking back for more! And various business issues. Attending an Anusara yoga class, however, has nothing to do with those allegations. I’m fairly certain that Blue Lotus Yoga. In fact, once I left the class, I realized that besides the aforementioned scandal, I knew very little about Anusara. It’s a form of yoga...
