The Daughter Chronicles

Sunday, July 02, 2017. Going on vacation with Mia is like mounting a major military operation! My parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary is this year, so we decided to go on a whole family vacation. Which they paid for, I might add. Yeah, my parents can be pretty awesome. We left Florida about 5, which turned out to be excellent timing. The SpaceX rocket was launching at about the same time. Which was pretty good - and Captain America: Civil War. Meanwhile, my niece gets along famously with Norah, so they...

The Daughter Chronicles: Another year gone by makes five

http://daughterchronicles.blogspot.com/2008/04/another-year-gone-by-makes-five.html

Friday, April 18, 2008. Another year gone by makes five. Today in 2003 I was in a car accident. Unfortunately, my daughter was in the back seat with me. Yes, it's the five-year anniversary of the event that changed our lives. As I always do, I refer you to the story of the accident. In its totality, in case you're new around here (I get about one new reader every year, so this is for you! And show some unpleasant pictures of Mia in the hospital here. Posted by Greg at 3:12 PM. At 19/4/08 9:21 AM. Well, I...

The Daughter Chronicles: Look! Up in the sky!

http://daughterchronicles.blogspot.com/2014/12/look-up-in-sky.html

Thursday, December 11, 2014. Up in the sky! Early in November I took Mia to the Scottsdale airport for an event run by Sky Kids. A charity that takes special needs kids flying. Someone had told Krys about it, and we thought Mia might like it. Krys had to take Norah to something for Girl Scouts (kids are busy, man! So she couldn't go, so it was just Mia and me. Of course, I took pictures! Yeah, Arizona doesn't look any better from the air, does it? Well, at least the mountains are nice. At 12/12/14 9:36 AM.

The Daughter Chronicles: The Saga of Mia

http://daughterchronicles.blogspot.com/2005/02/saga-of-mia.html

Tuesday, February 22, 2005. The Saga of Mia. So why should I write a blog about my daughter? What's so great about her? I'm so glad you did. She is now two-and-a-half, and is making wonderful progress. I just thought it would be nice to have a blog that chronicles her steps as she goes through them. As I mentioned, any advice is welcome. This is our first child, so it's all new to us! Posted by Greg at 2:38 PM. Hi My name's Mike Loughlin, and. I'm adding your blog to my regular reading. Thank you. Oh, an...

The Daughter Chronicles: Whenever Mia gets busy, it's never good news

http://daughterchronicles.blogspot.com/2014/10/whenever-mia-gets-busy-its-never-good.html

Friday, October 31, 2014. Whenever Mia gets busy, it's never good news. Poor Mia. I decided to set up a bunch of doctor appointments in October for her, and she also had her parent-teacher conference. So she's been running around getting looked at, poked and prodded, having no fun whatsoever. Here's a run-down. Also, all four of her molars had fillings in them, but now her mouth is clean . for a while. It's still hard to keep them clean, because flossing is a total pain in the butt. Art for the masses!

The Daughter Chronicles: The delivery of a baby - a general timeline from the point of view of a man, who feels nothing and whose emotions are therefore invalid

http://daughterchronicles.blogspot.com/2005/06/delivery-of-baby-general-timeline-from.html

Saturday, June 25, 2005. The delivery of a baby - a general timeline from the point of view of a man, who feels nothing and whose emotions are therefore invalid. We got our pictures developed today, so this will be a photographic journey through the first few days of Norah's life. Nothing yucky in the pictures, I swear! I will also deal with "feminine" and birth stuff. If you're too immature to handle it, please check back later! I also apologize for the length of this post. I take a lot of pictures!

One Thing at a Time. Tuesday, December 25, 2007. One Thing at a Time: Little mermaid

http://custancia.blogspot.com/2007/11/little-mermaid.html

One Thing at a Time. Monday, November 12, 2007. We rejoined the rather expensive, but rather nice, and very nearby gym recently. In a determined effort to 'get our monies worth' (well we do live in Yorkshire! Anyway, this style clearly works for her. If Paul and I stand about 10 - 12 feet apart in the pool, she can now happily swim between us. All in one big breath. I'm reluctant to encourage her try much further, until she has learnt to come up for air! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

One Thing at a Time: A good day!

http://custancia.blogspot.com/2007/11/good-day.html

One Thing at a Time. Wednesday, November 14, 2007. Today has been a good day! Our cat, Kitty, who has been missing since Friday has returned - a very lovely couple took her in when she was looking scared out near the main road on Sunday evening, and rang us when they saw the posters we'd put up. Also, a nice plumber has come and made our central heating work downstairs (since we'd turned on the heating, it had only been working upstairs! Fingers crossed about the job xxx. Maybe swim at the posh gym?

One Thing at a Time: May 2007

http://custancia.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

One Thing at a Time. Sunday, May 27, 2007. Not the most inspired of titles, but I'm a little overwhelmed and amazed at the moment (in a very good way)! Not only did they dismantle the frame, and bring it round to us, they even spend 2 hours today ( a miserable cold day, with rain threatening) helping Paul assemble it for us - along with the kind of assistance only an excited 3 year old can provide. It's wonderful when good things happen - and it's even better when you weren't expecting them! I was, of co...

http://custancia.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

One Thing at a Time. Sunday, December 24, 2006. A Very Merry Christmas. We're safely arrived and unpacked at Glingle's. Wishing you all much happiness and joy. Monday, December 11, 2006. A new store opened in York this weekend. We came across the advert for it by chance at midday on the Saturday - its first day of trading. The advert promised furniture, soft furnishings, toys, Christmas decorations and craft stuff - along with free face painting and balloon modelling. How could we miss it? One is a rabbi...

One Thing at a Time: September 2006

http://custancia.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

One Thing at a Time. Tuesday, September 26, 2006. My poor neglected Blog - patiently waiting for another post, and now it's come it's not carefully crafted, but rather a hasty scrawl. One day, Blog, I will make it up to you. Life has been a rollercoaster recently - not one of those exciting, white knuckle, stomach churning, life affirming rollercoasters, more like one of the 'baby' rollercoasters you sometimes get in the children's areas of theme parks. Paul has hurt the base of his spine and needs to ge...

One Thing at a Time: January 2007

http://custancia.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

One Thing at a Time. Saturday, January 13, 2007. Living with memory loss (someone else's) Pt 1. Part of the reason for needing to re-balance my life is because Paul's health changed last year. I can't remember exactly what I posted, and I'm afraid I'm too lazy to trawl my archives - but in summary, Paul developed some temporary, but longish-term, neurological problems. Those are lovely pictures on the fridge" he said "where have they come from? This year, I'm going to have a word. The word is balance.

One Thing at a Time: April 2007

http://custancia.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

One Thing at a Time. Thursday, April 26, 2007. It's almost 6 months since I was seconded to my new (current) post as Project Manager. The change of role was hard in moving away from the team that I had worked hard to pull together, and also provided a steep learning curve as it was a very different role. But the only real way though this is just to get on with it. So I'm going to. It's a relatively small decision, so how surprising that my shoulders feel so much lighter now that I have made it! Ellie has...
