http://stitchworks-jackie.blogspot.com/2015/06/stencilcollage.html
Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Here are some pictures of Stencilling in black and white after watching. Video: then taking the papers into ipad apps and collage. This is an interesting group project and I am doing it with my day centre group; be aware that the foam rollers use a lot of paint. Still time to leave a comment on the Birthday Giveaway post to be 'in it to win it'. I had a lovely birthday this year , remembered by more people than usual, and the gift of some unusual jewellery made by. Australian Patc...

STITCHWORKS: 'New' tools.
http://stitchworks-jackie.blogspot.com/2015/06/new-tools.html
Monday, June 08, 2015. I'm trying very hard to throw things away, expecially packaging, but this broken salad spinner was just sitting on the side before it found the right rubbish bag. Whilst waiting for my morning cuppa to brew I decided to have a go at cutting it up. With the help of a stanley knife I managed to take it apart and the result was a few new tools to use for printing, especially using the gelli plate. Don't forget this month's giveaway in the last post, the odds are good at the moment!

STITCHWORKS: Distort Threee
http://stitchworks-jackie.blogspot.com/2015/08/distort-threee.html
Saturday, August 01, 2015. This time I found a monoprint of the field, which I had coloured, in one of my sketchbooks and decided to use that as the background. I transferred this to calico using TAP (Artists' Transfer Paper). Saturday, August 01, 2015. Corrine at sparkledaysstudio.com. Your stitched piece reminds me of a woman with arms outstretched, wonderful. xox. Such a wonderful piece. So interesting how you go about it. Very interesting approach to this stitched piece . and very successful! Felt si...

STITCHWORKS: Distort
http://stitchworks-jackie.blogspot.com/2015/07/distort.html
Friday, July 10, 2015. I then machined some lines inspired by my view onto silk organdie. I then layered the two pieces onto white felt and needle felted round the edges. The piece is not entirely successful but I will certainly try this effect again as I like the dimensional effect it gives. So why did I frame it and hang it up, which is something I hardly ever do, well just because I was in the mood! Friday, July 10, 2015. Good distortion. I like the way you experiment very much! STITCHWORKS: Distort again
http://stitchworks-jackie.blogspot.com/2015/07/distort-again.html
Saturday, July 18, 2015. I decided to have another go at the idea of distorting scrim, like 'drawn thread' work with the sewing machine.I worked using this sketch as a guide:. This time I worked on a piece of calico rather than silk. I then distorted the scrim and painted it with acrylic inks. It looks quite flat in a photo but in fact the needlefelting makes the piece dimensional and quite interesting. Saturday, July 18, 2015. You are very adventurous! What an interesting approach. My background is in C...

STITCHWORKS: March 2015
http://stitchworks-jackie.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 28, 2015. There are lots of patterns for fabric baskets on the internet, some people have gathered boards solely devoted to the theme on Pinterest. I wanted to use some of the scraps from my block printed fabric and I followed. Which is nice and clear. It makes. A small basket ideal for holding pens on my desk. It hard to cut up a precious piece of dyed fabric but sometimes it just has to be done. I made a larger one, it was easy to enlarge the pattern. Saturday, March 28, 2015. The tree ...

STITCHWORKS: September 2014
http://stitchworks-jackie.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 27, 2014. This is one way to build up layers of words and writing on both paper and fabric; I have shown some examples in my sketchbook video. So you can work on either fabric or paper whichever you fancy or both. Taping the edges with masking tape makes a nice edge to your work. Work on a smooth surfaced fabric such as calico or poplin. Write some words at varied angles on the surface using a permanent ink. Stencil over areas where you have words using acrylic matt medium. And I have...
