Glasgow born Dave Hankin started his musical journey being taught trombone at school by Maynard Ferguson's lead trumpet player John Donnelly and afterwards developing his writing skills with Maynard Ferguson's arranger Adrian Drover. In 1983 he formed Dave Hanlon's Cookbook. This award winning band is still performing in Central New York and based out of Syracuse NY. and has recorded 3 CD's. The last two received SAMMY awards. Dave has received many awards including 5 SAMMYS, one of which was The Hall Of Fame Award, given to him by his former student Jon Fishman of Phish.
