Dave in Nome: What Goes Around...
http://daveinnome.blogspot.com/2008/06/what-goes-around.html
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Wednesday, June 04, 2008. It's been too long since my last post, so perhaps a little bit of humor will break the ice. I'd like to recount an encounter I had about two weeks ago at our local grocery store. Which had just hit the shelves. There was only one person on line in front of me: a young Native boy, I'd say between 7 and 10 years old. (The older I get, the worse I've become in pinpointing the ages of those outside my peer group.) . The child then reached into ...
Dave in Nome: December 2007
http://daveinnome.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Thursday, December 20, 2007. Originally uploaded by david.dodman. A group shot of the KNOM staff! I often get reflective, introspective, or even downright existential on long trips. One might call that the product of boredom, but I prefer to think of it as the luxury of unstructured time. Sitting, thinking, and staring out the window can be surprisingly relaxing when there's no guilt that you're not being productive. De-facto homecomings also brought me up to New Haven...
Dave in Nome: Undecided?
http://daveinnome.blogspot.com/2008/11/undecided.html
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Saturday, November 01, 2008. I haven't written on this blog in a few months now. I'd like to think it's not because of a lack of things to say, but rather because of an overabundance: a lot of my free time has been consumed with following the presidential elections, and it's only gotten worse as the clock has ticked closer to November 4th. But sometimes, being a political- and media-junkie yields something insightful - or, better yet, provides some much-needed humor.
Dave in Nome: The New Palin
http://daveinnome.blogspot.com/2008/09/pta-diplomacy.html
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Tuesday, September 09, 2008. What to make of Sarah Palin? I can tell you that in my current home state of Alaska, this is very much the question du jour. Granted, our junior governor is nothing new. Or at least, she wasn't anything new, until John McCain picked her to run with him on this fall's GOP ticket. But Palin-as-Vice-President, or even Palin-as-President? It is two months before the election, and a pall of discord and disbelief broods over the Great Land. In Wa...
Dave in Nome: November 2006
http://daveinnome.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. This past weekend, a blizzard blew into Nome, and we got our first real taste of Alaskan winter. We'd already had several weeks of snow on the ground - snow that would blow around like sand when it became cold and windy - but this definitely took things "up a notch." (Bam! The wind chill.). Snow at home always seems as fickle as rain: it might dominate today, but it's gone tomorrow. As a result, I think it's more of a curiosity in Jersey.

Dave In Motion | A depiction of love, life & cyclery, as experienced by David Bowers.
A depiction of love, life and cyclery, as experienced by David Bowers. August 16, 2010 by daveinmotion. The 8/14 Glencoe Grand Prix marked my first race of the 2010 year. I entered the Cat 4 race for the sole purpose of gauging my fitness going into cross season and to provide a support role to Jamie, Stan or Hemme. 100 riders pre-registered for the race, but I’m guessing not all started due to the heat. With an 11am race, the temp ratcheted up rather quickly throughout the morning. With CX season beginn...

Dave in Nome
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Sunday, November 09, 2008. I'll confess: I often listen to the radio, but it's not always. The one for which I work. Yesterday morning I was brushing my teeth to the non-threatening presence of KUAC (the National-Public-Radio affiliate broadcast from Fairbanks) when I heard this quote:. Don't make the same mistakes I did. Make your own. Mistakes; mine are all taken. Tuesday, November 04, 2008. It's the big day! Saturday, November 01, 2008. Keeping up with the delirious...

Man did not move out of the Stone Age because they ran out of Stones so why do we feel we have to use all the Oil? Having driven EVs as my primary source of transportation since 2007 does not qualify me as an expert in any sense but I have experienced a few things that I want to share because every mile driven on electricity is more money not leaving the state that can be spent for MUCH better things! Saturday, January 7, 2017. Dec 2016 Drive Report. Well, a little anyway. Straight to 48 KW! But that has...

Dave in Petrozavodsk
Wednesday, 3 September 2008. Time to sum everything up. Firstly I had a great time and made new friends, I would like to do it again but not for a long long time. St Petersburg. Of wealth and came as quite a shock after Petrozavodsk. Enjoy it as much as I should because I booked into the worlds noisiest youth hostel, hence I couldn't. Even be bothered taking photos, I will go back sometime later on a holiday to see the Hermitage etc. They even describe where Petrozovodsk. Posted by Dave Tooley. Well I'm ...
