Dave's Photo Blog: Lake Nakuru - Views and Baboons
http://davelicence.blogspot.com/2009/02/lake-nakuru-views-and-baboons.html
Friday, February 27, 2009. Lake Nakuru - Views and Baboons. After taking our fill of flamingoes and pelicans at the Lake Nakuru shore, we head away from the water a little, with a drive across the plain and up to Baboon Cliff. It's a dusty road, and almost completely devoid of baboons, but the view from the top shows us the lake shore we have just driven along. Fortunately, we catch up with some baboons later, and one is kind enough to pose. Are you back from India? March 04, 2009 1:39 pm.

Dave's Photo Blog: May 2008

Friday, May 09, 2008. State of the nation (2). It's not often I read a newspaper. This week though I've had a couple of free copies of The Times and a particular story. In Thursday's edition, about proposed changes to the driving test, caught my eye. For anyone who is unaware, the driving theory test. While mock tests for the second part are also available in numerous places, such as here. The proposal sounds reasonable then doesn't it? After all, the questions are derived from the Highway Code. It all s...

Saturday, March 14, 2009. Lake Nakuru - Back to Nairobi. As we head for 'home' the sun sets and talk is of everything we've seen. It's a pretty long day out from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru, but well worth it. Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Lake Nakuru - Rhino and Hippo. We're on the trail out of Nakuru park, settling down for the journey back to Nairobi, when our driver again spots a couple of animals we hadn't believed we'd be lucky enough to see. Sunday, March 08, 2009. Lake Nakuru - Lions. We drive over and s...

Experimental Jifflings: Mogador
http://thejiffler.blogspot.com/2009/03/mogador.html
Monday, March 09, 2009. What a mighty name for a restaurant. Mogador sounds like a baddy from Lord of the rings, played by an 18 foot hammer-fisted Brian Blessed on PCP. Mogador eats cats, smokes children, and does very unpleasant things to those naughty Hobbits. A swift google reveals that Mogador is many things:. The Portuguese name for the south west coastal region of Morocco. An ancient Phoenician fort in Morocco. A small hamlet near Margery Wood (would she? In Surrey, UK. We could have continued on ...
Experimental Jifflings: Les Huitres
http://thejiffler.blogspot.com/2009/06/les-huitres.html
Monday, June 29, 2009. How to eat oysters:. Freshly picked from the mangrove, gently smoked, and then guzzled with fingers on a beach in Senegal's Sine Saloum. How not to pick oysters:. Our guide explained this to us. Then he and the boatman drew our pirogue up to the mangroves, and promptly uprooted a couple of branches. Apparently it's OK to destroy the habitat if you have a boatload of white people and are in a hurry. For more on mangroves visit Wetlands International. The Great British Kitchen.

So it has been sitting in my curio cabinet since my sister-in-law gave it to me a long long time ago. Its colour is still the same as the day I got it. SIT: A position in which we relax. Who is sitting in your space today? Posted by Asian Butterfly. I love your soap-pictures! And the dolls will sit perfectly still for the picture, don't they!

Friday, February 11, 2011. Almost two years without a peep and now a picture of a frozen river? In fact, in Riga. Just the day before it had pretty much started to thaw, but the temperature fell overnight and refroze sections of it, trapping bits of ice that had broken off further upstream and were busy trying to escape to the sea.
