Back when I was first thinking about becoming a journalist, all the signs were that I was trying to get into a small profession that was rapidly getting smaller. The advertising recession was in full force, radio commercial stations were downsizing with a vengeance and competition for the little work that was left had never been fiercer.

According to one of the brochures, the key venues are due to be finished in just over a month's time - and according to my tour guide everything is very much on schedule. The Olympics Stadium: the crowning glory of the 2012 site. Number of newts relocated from the Olympic Park to Waterworks Nature Reserve.

Hashmatt and i left the capsule hotel - where only i was staying; hashmatt was renting a room for the month - and travelled half of tokyo in search of food. when we got to our chosen eatery it was packed; we had to reserve a table, deciding to go all the way back to the hotel to meet roger.
