Thursday, April 09, 2015. Back in the SAP House. No, not your commercial sugar house, more like making moonshine in a backyard still. This is a very small private sugaring operation where things are done the old fashion way; just old taps dripping into metal buckets collected by hand and poured into the holding tank. Just collecting the sap will exhaust you. At least a little a little modern horsepower is used in the collection process. Keeping the firebox stoked requires a very steady load of wood.

Dave Schmidt Photo: February 2014

http://daveschmidtphoto.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 18, 2014. The Frozen Landscape of Lake Champlain. With the ice on Lake Champlain somewhere around 20" thick, its safe to explore frozen west coast of New England. This trip was simply out a well traveled path to Lone Tree Point, just north of Burlington, Vermont. Links to this post. Friday, February 07, 2014. Brand new page on Facebook. Hit that "like" button. Dave Schmidt Photo: The Williston 4th of July

http://daveschmidtphoto.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-williston-4th-of-july.html

Monday, July 07, 2014. The Williston 4th of July. There is magic in small town July 4th festivities. Williston has a lot of that magic and this year's 4th of July Parade and Frog Jumping contest were great fun for all. Its been fun over the years to watch our boys grow up from being the little guys on the side of the road snatching candy to carrying the American Flag in the Boy Scout Color Guard this year. These are my favorite shots from the day. To see a lot more photos from this year, click here.

Dave Schmidt Photo: August 2013

http://daveschmidtphoto.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 01, 2013. Gaspé in 72 Hours. One of the motorcycle rides I have had on the to-do list for some time is a ride around the Gaspé Peninsula. It's just far enough away that it needs four days and getting four days that align with good weather had never materialized, until now. With that window opened, I loaded the bike and headed north. This is the place. With the sun dropping, I needed miles and motored to Quebec City for the night. Day two needed to end at the tip of Gasp. É, which even fr...

Dave Schmidt Photo: First Cover

http://daveschmidtphoto.blogspot.com/2014/08/first-cover.html

Thursday, August 14, 2014. A few months back my niece, Carol Ann (aka MotoCarolAnn), emailed me and said that I might get a call from American Motorcyclist Magazine. As they were using her for a story. She had suggested they should consider me to take the shots. I've been published in their magazine before which I think put them in the right place to contact me. A few emails later and everything was set, well, almost set. Http:/ daveschmidtphoto.smugmug.com/. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Dave Schmidt Photo: December 2012

http://daveschmidtphoto.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 09, 2012. Although I haven't been putting any effort into getting publish lately, a few pieces have turned up. Seems that getting up to the top of mountains at sunrise is a good way to get work published. Skiing Magazine's December issue has a piece on eastern ski areas that features one of my images on page 84 from Whiteface. The cover of the Stowe. There are three other images from that morning there as well. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Jake's and Cody's Parents!!!!

Jake's and Cody's Parents! Tuesday, January 12, 2010. This is our finished tree. The ornament that I chose from Grandma Floyds collection. Jake and his tree. Decorating the tree together. Cody liked to put the things away that I got out. Mom's turn to help. Cody must not have liked the song that was playing cause he kept changing the station. Cody trying to read his new book at the hotel in idaho. All the Barnes Grandkids waiting to open presents. Jake loves his binoculars. Cody and his trains. Pictures ...

Monday, March 30, 2009. Debates Are Over - The Home Stretch is Near. Hello again. It has been awhile since I have written. It has been a very busy time in the campaign. It seems like every time I get ready to give an update, something new happens. Lest anyone forget, the mayor followed up his contribution from Napleton by voting to give Napleton over $2 million of your tax money. As I said at the debate Thursday night, all of this "doesn't just smell, it reeks.". Things are looking good for our campaign,...

Why does this guy have a blog?

Why does this guy have a blog? Friday, April 27, 2012. Half a Century sounds like a very long time. And today is the last day where I have not been alive for half a century. Is that an issue for me? I don't think so. Basically, I look at all of the things that I (we including Thresa for most of this time) have accomplished in my 49 years and 365 days (Leap year this year added one day to my 49th year). Things such as (in chronological order I hope):. Graduating high school and leaving for ISU. Continuing...

Kirkland Signature was introducing a new Trek Mix bag and they wanted a style that was fun and adventurous. They were initially asking for designs with an old-timey baseball style, but they went with my design when I submitted a version with a more western style. Working closely with Costco's marketing team, each ad for the Kirkland Signature Energy Shot started with a general theme such as New Year Resolutions or Summer Energy. Then we created the tagline and scene around it.
