April 28, 2015. Missing after a frantic week. I cannot find my passport. This city won't be letting go of me after all. My brother says he feels betrayed. That I would trade my sonic boom parks for his vast wilderness. Summer after summer he perches in towers watching for fires in the hinterland. Setting his sights on nothing in particular. While I sit on the condo board with residents planning to Install a new sprinkler system. This city won't be lost if I turn tail and run. Or walk out boldly.

June 26, 2015. So here it is June. Midyear came at midnight when no one was watching. I'm marking seasons by swapping windows for screens. Airing out the bedrooms of children who are starting to sweat. Nursing rake blisters in the shade of the tree that killed my lawn. I rake debris from past seasons. Rake and pull away the past that has smothered new growth. Like black oil on a bird's wing. I rake and break up ground until my lawn is barely that. More a lot of dirt clumps waiting for.
