Saturday, June 1, 2013. May 28, 2013. Breakfast is granola bars, and we go. David has learned that Kebeh’s bag could be at the Brussels Airlines office in downtown Monrovia. That could save us the time of running out to the airport. We head there and arrive before opening. We go to Mamba Point near the US Embassy, where there are a variety of artisans to decide what is available for later purchase. We visit Kebeh’s mom and her family. Tuesday, June 7, 2011. June 4, 2011. June 4, 2011. While we had no formal bet, I buy a round of Cokes for the group. It is the right thing to do, in appreciation for their hard work and proving that they were right. They are doubly jubilant and thank me profusely. As we walk today, people are washing, some are ironing, some have made popcorn, even popcorn balls. I see a house with a solar panel and a Dish network-style receiver. Market day is in full swing at Phebe Airstrip. 1 of kids playing soccer.

The first trip was to identify scholarship recipients at Phebe School. We learned about the process of giving scholarships across the world, and travel in Liberia. Monday, May 28, 2012. May 28, 2012. A reasonably good night’s rest; we do have air conditioning, which really helps. Took a while to fall sleep, too many things rolling over in my head, particularly without checked luggage. Read a couple Psalms and Galatians 5 as a devotion. Galatians 5:6b. Breakfast at the hotel, and off to do the training at New Sight Eye Center. I should have 3 students, and only have 2 notebooks with me, so they will need to share. We will do our best. A van with a typical load.
