Issues with Battery Charging from the Solar Panels. We seem to have a problem with the battery charging from the solar panels. To check out how much charge was going into the battery from the panels, I installed a shunt and a digital meter which let me measure the current going in. On a nice cool sunny day it was only putting in a maximum of 4.6 Amps, which is very low (even allowing for the sun being low in the sky in May) for 600W of theoretical input. Deciding on a vehicle. What vehicle to choose for travelling around Australia? We started with a few Land Rovers as our long time travelling vehicles. We've had a Discovery, a 90, a 110 and a 130 over the years as our camping cars, as well as several Range Rovers as city/touring cars. So the seed of 'bigness' was planted. Visitors in a Unimog. Iain and Tricia's U1250 Mog. We had a visit from Iain and Tricia, who are from Queensland, and on a shakedown trip in their converted Unimog. Here's a bunch of photos to show what it's like! Iain has built it basically from scratch, with a huge amount of hand and custom fabrication. It started out as a bright orange ex-Railway (? MAN Truck Build. Documenting an overland expedition truck buildup. This website is a bit of a test for me to learn how DotNetNuke (DNN) works, and to document the build of our new MAN 15.290 truck. We're starting from scratch, with a bare cab-chassis, so we think it will take a couple of years to build. Mainly, this site is to host our blogs. MAN Truck Build: Starting with a base 2012 TGM 15.290 4x4. It is a 12 speed tiptronic with diff-locks front/middle/rear. Estimated build time: 2 years or so.
