We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are . . .". Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Spent a few minutes at Saguaro National Monument West this afternoon. The Red Hills Visitor center has a magnificent set of arched ceiling beams on the back porch that - at certain times of the year and certain times of the day - present some amazing shadows. The mountain upon which Kitt Peak National Observatory resides - seen in Infrared light. The reflection of the porch in the giftshop windows.

Well, last week I was back in the hospital as my cancer decided to eat my blood and required me to get numerous transfusions and other medically complex treatments. Below are images from the two cameras of the shower a combination of the frames that showed meteors over the cameras 6 hours of integration - 30 second exposures at ISO 6400 and wide open F/2.8 and F3.5 lenses. Very few meteors were caught as apparently the shower had peaked at 5 pm local time - while it was still light out in Tucson. Canon 1D Mark IV.

The above image shows the Moon tree in late June 2014 as I was test driving a new lens for my Canon 70D. The new lens is a Sigma 18-250mm telephoto, in this case set at 18mm focal length. It is a complete tragedy, not only for me and for his children and everyone else who knew and loved him, but for the world since now we will not get to see the images that he had yet to capture. He had so many plans for more photo shoots in places around the world. I'm including a partial copy of his obituary as featured in the Arizona Daily Star on September 23, 2012. Links to this post.

All my life I have loved camping in most of its forms, be it backpacking with a tiny one-person tent, a tarp or a camping hammock. And I've done it in tropical heat or English winter.
