Aya, my teacher, made making the gyoza dumpling look effortless; my slow and steady process took twice the time, but still tasted ok. Aya’s mum always salts and rinses the cabbage before using, but we found it worked ok without this step. 1 cup finely shredded cabbage. 2 spring onions, finely sliced. 1 garlic clove, crushed. 2 tsp Japanese soy sauce. 1 tsp sesame oil. 1/2 tsp caster sugar. Pinch of ground white pepper.

Corned beef Archives - David Herbert. Corned / Salt Beef. Corned beef gets its unique flavour and texture by first soaking in a salt bath and then being gently poached. It’s terribly old fashioned, but this is a very good version. Preparation time: 20 minutes, plus soaking time. Cooking time: 3 hours. 15 2 kg piece corned or salt beef (silverside). 2 onions, peeled and quartered. 3 carrots, cut into 5 cm pieces. Handful of parsley stalks. 6 8 whole black peppercorns. 1/2 star anise (optional, but good).

Garlic prawns Archives - David Herbert. 2 tbsp olive oil. 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced. 1 long fresh red chillies, chopped, seeds removed. 1kg large uncooked prawns, unpeeled. 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice. Grated rind 1 lemon. 2 tbsp roughly chopped flat leaf parsley. Lemon wedges, to serve. Add the lemon juice, lemon rind and parsley to the prawn mixture and toss to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Divide the prawns among serving plates and serve with lemon wedges. Serves 4. June 18, 2013.

Chocolate Archives - David Herbert. 3 free range eggs, separated. 200g (6 1/2oz) dark chocolate, chopped. 185ml (6fl oz) double cream, lightly whipped. 2 tbsp caster sugar. In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg yolks. Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of hot water, stirring occasionally, until smooth. Remove the bowl from the heat and gradually add the beaten yolks, mixing until smooth. Fold through the cream and stir until combined. April 8, 2013. Search recipe titles here.

While I was scanning through cookbooks the other day I came across these beautiful cheesy biscuits in. The Really Useful Cookbook. 200g plain flour sifted. 50g parmesan cheese, grated. 150, tasty cheddar cheese.
