Once again my wife and I are opening our house as part of the fabulous Dorset Art Weeks open studios event. There will be a large selection of my works plus a few limited edition prints and postcards which will be liberally mixed with my wife’s (Irene Burgoyne) beautiful textiles. Why are artificial wings being fixed to another’s back – will he fly? What is his relationship with the man who fixes them? Once on a very large and totally deserted stretch of beach I found a stocking soaked in blood. The blood looked fresh – it was shocking. There was no evidence of anything that might cut a foot nearby. This was more than fifty years ago and I remember it clearly. The unexplained retains its potency – it’s capacity to engage us. Parable without words two men lost in silence.
