100 Indie Comics part 1. Posted on 30 March, 2014 in Comics. Comixology did a promotion for SXSW in which they bundled 100 of the comics produced for their self-publishing Submit program. I don’t promise to read them all cover-to-cover, but I will at least read the first few pages and glance through more. I also don’t promise to comment on all of them or give in-depth reviews. Mostly just a line or two, and I’ll mention titles with no comment if I have nothing nice to say. 51 Serif St, Vol 1: The Breaking.

Typewriter Desks & IKEA. Posted on 7 February, 2013 in typewriters. I finally discovered why my hands get tired typing on the Olympia SG-1 even though it appears to be in perfect condition and doesn’t have a carriage shift. The keyboard is half an inch to an inch taller than all the rest of my keyboards. And when you consider that modern computer keyboards are practically flat, that’s quite an incline! 11 Responses to “ Typewriter Desks & IKEA ”. March 6, 2013 at 12:44 pm. Love your typing desk! 100 Indie Comics part 5. Posted on 29 May, 2014 in Comics. This is the 5th part of my read-through of the Comixology SXSW Submit bundle. The previous parts are here: One. I knew that I would never finish reading these unless I had some accountability, and this blog has served that function. It only took about five weeks to finish the last fifth, and I was dragging my feet quite a bit. (In my defense, I did take a comic book break to read Jonathan Hickman’s run on Fantastic Four which is. Has worked quite...

Folks these days just don’t do nothing simply for the love of it. Posted on 26 February, 2014 in Publishing. I’m tired of thinking about writing. I almost said that I’m tired of writing, but I’m not doing any, so how could that be the case? It seems like a few years ago all of the writing blogs I read were on the art and craft of writing. Now they all seem to be stuck on the business of writing. Not that I mind business, but enough is enough. I think that metaphor applies to more than Hollywood, and I...

Posted on 11 May, 2015 in Comics. Here are my quick thoughts on the last ten comics in the 2015 SXSW Comixology Submit bundle. If you missed what I wrote about the first twenty, that’s here. And at the end, I’ll sum up the (not so) epic battle between this year’s bundle and last year’s. Submit Bundle 2015 review. Posted on 2 May, 2015 in Comics. Comixology did another Submit. So I thought I could manage 30 this year. Although it seems like it’s taken longer than it did last year anyway. Somehow I missed ...

A spoken word podcast. Author: Lies, Dreaming. Call For Submissions: One Sentence Only. March 1, 2017. March 1, 2017. It is that time again. The time when we want your words. This time, though, we want something different. We want you to send in just one sentence. Why, you might ask? Whatever you do send, the podcast will be set to an ambient soundtrack so we ask that the recordings are vocals only. We also ask that you write your sentence in the body of the email so it is easier for us to arrange them.
