Newer posts →. Goals and Plans August 2011. August 31, 2011. I figure that now is a good time to establish goals for the rest of the year. Goals are important for many reasons. They help to make sure that your training is effective towards the particular end you are trying to meet. They help to keep someone motivated, and they help to let someone understand where they stand (master, elite, ect). Goals should have variety. There are differences that everyone knows such as long term or short term goals.

Update 9/7/11 →. September 7, 2011. Today was basically just a practice day. I have been deadlifting conventional style:. For several years now, but it is always too fatiguing to use in conjuction with my other training. Training 9/7/11 →. September 5, 2011. Today was my fist training session in my garage, and my first session back after my meet. After a general warmup, plus warming up for squats my main sets were 375 (70%) for 5×3. This was harder than I would have liked. Then moving onto bench, where after warming up I did 300 (80%) for 3 sets of 4. Also harder than I would have liked, but its my first day back. Followed by some upper body bodybuilding and called it a day. This entry was posted in Training logs.

This blog will hopefully be multifaceted. I will post my own workouts, opinions and theories on proper training as well as thoughts about diet, recipes, and life in general. During my education I have helped several people achieve their athletic and health goals, and now I am able to commit all my time to this endeavor. Being a lifelong resident of Frederick County (Save for 2 years at the University of Maryland) I am tremendously excited to be back home and able to do what I love in the place I love.

The gym is now functional (and the space livable) but that does not mean it is beautiful yet. September 12, 2011. Today was supposed to be hard/heavy squatting and light/easy benching. It was exactly that. Bench was another story. 245 (60%) for 5×5 was the plan. 245 felt like no more than the bar. Made me feel lucky to be able to do that weight, because a lot of people (usually who don’t know how to train) struggle to to get 250 or even 200 for one rep. September 12, 2011.
