Sunday, October 16, 2011. Although I have hiked the Manana Trail several times, until recently I'd never made it all the way to the top. I was determined to make it to the top before we left O'ahu so we made plans, invited some friends and went for it. The trail is 12 miles round trip. The first 3 miles are easy going with a steady uphill but after the 3 mile mark it turns into a narrow jungle trail that slows to about a 1 mph pace at best. Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Big Bird and some green heads". My friend Josh brought down three sandhill crane in the Rio Grande valley this January. If you've never hunted crane before, they are about like shooting down a 737 and be sure they're dead before you walk over to them.they put up a heck of a fight and are notorious for flogging people. Thursday, October 13, 2011. The Kalalau Trail (NaPali Coast, Kauai). Kalalau - Part 1. Backpacker magazine rates this trail among America's 10 most dangerous trails. When I found this out I felt fearful of the trail and almost dismissed the idea of hiking it. I'm glad I chose to continue my research. Let me just say that the trail was not terrifying and I hope to do it again! Regina was right there with me the whole way and after the worst sections she said "is that the part everyone is so scared of?

We spent 6 days in the Pecos wilderness in the Mora Flats area northeast of Iron Gate. Below is the beautiful valley we camped in. Two weeks ago the leaves were starting to turn.last week they reached their prime in the most beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows.this weekend they started to fall off by the thousands! Saturday, June 27, 2009. We have been living in our new 2bed/1bath apartment/townhouse for three weeks now. It's wonderful! We live on the second floor. It even came with some furniture: kitchen table and chairs, bookshelve, end tables, washer and dryer (PTL! No more $2.50 loads! TV and small sort of entertainment center, and the best part - a futon couch! So you guessed it! We took the mattress off the frame and have been sleeping on it as our bed! It's real comfy. Why on the floor? Mason has a job!

It was remarkable, to say the least. the scenery was incredible, and the hostel we stayed at was excellent. Here is a picture of the Fairly Knowe "Backpacker's" (hostel).
