Dawn Byrne

Tattling on Grandma (fiction). Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Living in the city all my life, I'd become cautious towards strangers. I kept this guard up after relocating to raise our children in a small township. While I strolled Main Street one morning, a man using a cane neared my baby's coach. As he approached us on the sidewalk, I took stock of him. Thin and weathered, a bit hunched and very aged. Yet, I felt his strange self-possession. This brief, silent affair proved we were home. Tattling on Grandma (fiction). Life's so sweet I sip it so my teeth aren't on edge. My husband doesn't need a wild animal skittering through our house causing disasters like in the movie, “National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.”. Joe alone wreaks havoc. But I'm the squirrely one, agreeing to live in another Handyman's Special; skunked again. Our single dwelling stood out amongst neighbors' properties: no gutters, crumbling front steps and muddy driveway. So what you do is pray. Our granddaughter ran thro...

Tattling on Grandma (fiction). Life's so sweet I sip it so my teeth aren't on edge. Footprints That Don't Match. Royal blue sculptured wall-to-wall carpet. This fantastic tint is better fit for play than décor, with surrounding golden walls our undying sun. The carpet's visible texture is little rippling waves. We sail along. Our vessel is Grandma’s Early American seaworthy sofa. When our baby brother climbs aboard, we spring a leak and all five of us abandon ship. My sister struts from side to side carr...

Tattling on Grandma (fiction). Life's so sweet I sip it so my teeth aren't on edge. Life with Fred and Lucy. Marie Gilbert, m. Y friend, fellow writer and cohort chats with me about everything. She agreed to a blog interview so I can share her amazing personality and interests with you. Oh, and she's also just published a book. You've enlightened me about zombies in that the idea of the undead symbolize something possible in reality. Could you explain a little about this? Your final book in this series?

Kevin Stephany's Critique Compendium. A Compilation of Pre-Post Modern Writing. Book Review The Paper Men by William Golding. I’ve been a huge fan of Mr. Golding’s work since I first read. Lord of the Flies. It impressed me so much that, I’ve read everything by him that’s still in print. Why you may wonder? As I tell everyone who asks me that Golding is the one person I’ve come across who’s just as miserable and pessimistic as I am. Books like. Golding’s unique gift for plot twists achieved its apex in t...

Being that it has now officially gotten cold, Mac and Cheese is the perfect comfort food for a cozy night in. This recipe is rather indulgent and totally beats the usual Weight Watcher’s recipe I follow, but it’s sweater time- perfectly ok to splurge once in awhile. And splurge we did. I used my fav girl Ina’s Barefoot Contessa recipe. And followed it exact, except I did use whole wheat pasta. Sure, I’ll cook with piles of shredded cheese and butter, but use regular pasta, nope! Posted in all things food.

Awakenings

Thursday, July 25, 2013. Writers write, so. If I do, am I? I sit myself in boxes. Sometimes two or three at a time. I sit and I stare and I do but I dare. Not leave my world of rhyme. There is reason in stanzas. Each with four lines. There are no shadows. There is no grime. In my metered verse. Of cool rain and shine. There is a lullaby hidden. As the clock keeps time. I sit myself in boxes. Sometimes, two or three at a time. I sit and I stare I know not where. Seeking an undeniable sign. A day begins,.

Why should i play by the rules? I didn't know i was playing any sort of game.". Thursday, May 23, 2013. Daisy in a war zone. He asked in awe, stopping his search. "It's too hot." I said nonchalantly, running my fingers through my basically non existent hair. He shook his head. "your a strange kid." he said as he walked out of my room, forgetting about the hunt for his missing object. Hey kid. do you have functioning eye balls? He clueless on how this works? Its only a hand." He said with a chuckle&#4...
