April 29, 2011. Ännu så länge är dagen lugn här i Damaskus. På alla öppna platser jag kommit till när jag promenerat runt för att kolla läget står minst 5 turistbussar fulla med säkerhetspolis medan beståndet av vanligt folk är nästan obefintligt. Männen i bussarna bär stora batonger och ibland kravallsköldar och ger ett skräckblandat respektingivande intryck. Upptäcker Syrien och Damaskus och läser arabiska. Ett intressant land med mycket att bjuda på i en omvälvande period. Dethär är min resa.

Hela dagen har staden varit som i ett delirium av aktivitet inför det som idag komma skall. Människor har köat till bankomater, kanske bunkrat lite mat och sett till att träffa så många vänner som möjligt för att utan politiska förtecken spendera en trevlig stund över en argileh och ett glas te.
