For a start, the weather has not been kind. Most of the pre-Christmas period was heavy rain and so the rivers were impossibly flooded and now we have snow and freezing temperatures (we had an interesting encounter with a frozen stretch a few weeks ago and ended up having to take a detour through a golf course!
